Hi,

First time poster and hopefully first time Seat owner very soon.
I'm looking at my first leon out of these two fairly identical used cars.

Seat Leon 1.6 TDI CR Ecomotive S 5dr
55k miles
June 2010 - Dealer will MOT for 12 months
£0 Road Tax
Nicer Alloys
V.Clean Car
Ecomotive model seems to be 7mpg avg better (all relative I suppose!)
Arm Rest

Seat Leon 1.6 TDI CR S Emocion 5dr
70k Miles
Dec 2010
£500 Cheap
£20 road tax
Better Radio
Steering Wheel Controls
Nicer front grill
Fog Lights

I'm going to test drive both tomorrow, im just curious is anyone has any opinion on what car seems better? Or represents better value for money. There is only approx £500 difference in them.

Any advice or what to look out for when test driving is appreciated!

Thanks!! :)

The ecomotive one should have stop start which is what will get the better mpg

I don't know much about the engine but My mate has one in his caddy and he says its spot on

Hi and welcome!

The will be very similar, but the Ecomotive will be a little lower and it will have longer gearing to achieve the higher mpg. I've not driven one, so make sure the higher gearing isn't an issue for you or whether you might even prefer it. Just remember that you won't achieve the quoted mpg figures for any car easily, so take them with a pinch of salt.

The armrest can be retrofitted (I've just done mine and it's great!), you don't need front fogs and you could upgrade the headunit later down the line anyway. The wheel buttons might just swing it for me.

Do you do a lot of miles? The reason I ask is do you need a diesel? A nice TSI might be a little cheaper to buy.

Have fun testing them both though. Check the ride isn't too hard though, especially the ecomotive.

£500 between them is spot on and what the book says, so at the moment you'd be quids in with the Ecomotive due to the lower fuel/ tax costs. However over time that difference in value will decrease.

What is the service history like on them both? Full SEAT? That could be what sways it for me.

Thanks for the replies.

Drove both of them today. There wasn't much difference in them, I ended up putting a deposit on 55k Ecomotive one.

Although the higher miles one had the wheel buttons / nicer radio / fogs made it look nicer it just wasn't as clean/fresh a car. I think the one I put deposit on feels like new. (I hope!)
Ended up driving both them twice as I couldn't pick a better car.

Full SEAT Service history and they are putting it into MOT next week for me. It did have the stop start.

There isn't many nice Petrol Leons for my Price range over in NI at the minute, however I do prefer to drive a diesel car in general. - use to it.

I would like to retrofit an arm rest (i made a mistake it didnt have it) and replace the grill if possible.
Is bluetooth hard or worthwhile to retrofit, baring in mind no Button steering wheel.

Thanks again for the all info! Was helpful this morning!!
