This seems more popular in the USA and even some VW dealerships in the US use this. Anyone else used it ???

well i suppose an additive is something other than diesel or petrol.

Whether a cleaner or performance enhancer.

In this particular case BG44k is a cleaner. Seems to have a few fans. So does millers which i have also tried and personally noticed no difference but people swear by it.

I know VW put forte into cars they service at the dealership in the uk to clean the fuel line. So this is an additive even thought vw will tell you if you put additives in this will void your warranty.

Like I said before (somewhere?) assuming that there are no boost leaks or clogging problems then its all to do with injection quantity, injection duration, Start of Injection, duty cycle and boost. These will vary from remapped cars and especially cars with hybrids or big turbo's.

There are big turbo deisels with 260-70bhp with hardly no smoke...

To keep smoke levels down it comes down to maintenance of the vehicle, fuel used, additives and how its tuned software wise. As Hubsandofstinky said smoke is subjective unless you know what your looking at.

I've used the BG 244 before, I tried it earlier this year and I wouldn't bother with it again. I generally use bog standard diesel and add millers to every tank (double millers every third tank) and I noticed no difference after using the BG 244.

In about a thousand miles I'll be doing an oil change and I've bought some LIQUI MOLY to try beforehand, I'll let you know how it goes afterwards.

All the best
