Hi,

I've just ordered a SPH-DA120 and wondered if anybody here could point me in the direction of additional parts I'll need for hooking it up.

Good Facia, adapters for steering wheel controls etc. I've fitted a few car stereos before but nothing like this so I'm a little out my depth and thought this would be a great place to start!

Thanks in advance :)

This should help, I fitted a SPH-DA120 to her 6J a month or two back, I documented the procedure too, see the link below.

Thanks.

I've also read you need to hook it up to the hand break to enable all the functionality, did you encounter this during your install. Going to read through your thread again :)

*EDIT*

Okay, I see where you talk about the wiring - could you explain the grounding off in a little more detail as well as 'I attached the Fakra power wire to the Blue/White Remote wire on the Pioneer harness, this is for the antenna amplifier.'

I assume you're UK/EU based? As a result, you can 'bypass' the need to hook up to the handbrake cable by simply grounding the handbrake wire on the Pioneer.

As you can see in this picture, to 'ground' the handbrake cable, I simply soldered the green (handbrake cable) to the black (ground) cable.

This tricks the car into thinking you're parked up etc, and allows 'all the functionality' (ie. the ability to watch videos on the move, or connect a bluetooth device whilst moving - not that you would do either of these!).

Whilst it's tricky to see, the same was done with the 'amplified' Fakra aerial. The one I bought required power. You supply the power by hooking up the power cable of the Fakra (blue) to the blue & white of the Pioneer harness. I believe you can get non-amped Fakra adapters (which would be the same as not connecting this blue wire). The outcome of that would be reduced radio signal (ie. to the point of not receiving any radio channels).

This shows both connections and is a much bigger picture (zoom in).

That's brilliant thanks.

I bought the £70 kit you linked so I assume it'll have the powered aerial? Does that kit come with decent instructions / wiring diagrams?

Yep, it will. Just do as I did with the blue/blue&white.

No idea, probably not. There was a single piece of paper, but I never looked at it, so not sure if it included 'decent instructions/wiring diagrams'. The kit is essentially plug and play.

The hardest bit is 'readying' the car/dash for the bleeder to fit!

Thanks for the info.

Reasoned I asked about instructions/diagrams was primarily wonderfing how you figured it all out (wiring blue to blue/white green to ground)

Not sure how different the dash will be from yours, I don't have to relocate the hazard switch for starters.

Experience. The 'modding' of the wiring is done on the Pioneer harness and I've been installing Pioneer units for a good few years. Granted, I first found the information on a forum like this, so just 'passing it on' :)

If you have the older 6J with the hazards already in situ, I am lead to believe there is enough room already, which should make for a much simpler install ;)

Anybody knows if the hazard switch needs to be moved on MK5 Seat Ibiza (2014 FR) as well, if so what is the part number for suitable switch? This one has a big Start-Stop switch between the switches adjacent to handbrake, so the one mentioned in Vini's thread is not going to be suitable as the hazard switch would have to go where the start-stop switch is.

Wish I could check that using my own car's VIN, but that site shows me no result when I put my VIN in.

Fitted everything today - working well.. or at least it was. FM Radio was working and now it isn't, loathed to take it all apart again, I'll have to take a look next weekend.

Send a pic of your dash/the area.

I'm imagining it will look like one of these;

Pre facelift (hazards already separate from stereo)

Facelift (hazards need relocating - as per my guide)

or maybe something like this... which already appears to have a Double Din type 'setup'...

Sounds aerial related. It'll either be loose/disconnected or power related.

You can probably get BBC without an aerial, but, if you can get BBC and not a lot else, I'd imagine it's down to the power (blue to blue/white). Either way, you're going to have to get behind it :(

At a guess you just need the correct 6J092713XX (or equivalent) then. I cant find any 6J092713XX with start/stop though, so I guess the part number is different.

Given thats the easy bit to pop out, might be worth popping it out and finding the model number/range from underneath it?

Has anybody found a way to relocate the start-stop button or a multiple switch with both Start-Stop and the hazard switches?
