ABS Problem

Hi everyone. I have a 1996 Seat Cordoba 1.6 SX and i'm having a problem with the ABS. The ABS light comes on when i have a passenger on the back seat. It stays on untill the passenger gets out, then restart the car and press the brakes. The only thing i can think of is that it's the sensor. I was wondering whether anyone had any ideas on what could be wrong?

Cheers in advance,

Jim

I would guess sensor, the weight if the rear passenger maybe pushing something onto an electrical connection or even a brake line causing it to come on.

Hmm, i lifted the rear bench, only to find alot of broken glass...... Anyway, is the wiring you mean, under the black circle cover on the drivers side?

if you lift the seat the wiring is towards the back of the vehicle. there are two skins of metal one on the inside of the car and one for the outer underbody there should be two acces points where the wiring comes through a gromet from underneath the car to the inside of the vehicle. check the glass hasent cut the wiring newhere and the wiring is earthing to the body?

I've had a look under the rear seats and found the wiring right at the back. It all seems intact from the inside, as far as i can see. So from what i can tell it will most likely be the sensors on the rear. Any idea how much that'll cost to get fixed? Cheers.

new sensors are about 50 quid plus an hours labour to pin point the fault and rectify. Thats if it is as simple as a sensor not a wiring fault. u might be able to save time if u disconnect the twopugs for the rear sensors and check the resistance across the two wires if one sensor is higher than the other that could help eliminate some of the posibilities. Have u checked stuff such as brake fluid levels etc?
