From what I have read I am going to suggest my issue with them was down to my map from Jabba. Michael had issues with my original map, the hybrid I purchased from Turbo Techincs was miss built, the compressor housing was far too big for the wheel. Michael re mapped my car after I fitted the new hybrid and the 150 injectors into the 130 head.
It then made 220hp and 390lbft.

when i first got car back on the road a local vag specialist stated it was my cam fooked
car is just shy of 99k now after my Cornwall hols this week

The 130 pd injectors ran fine in my car until I tried to start it when warm. I had at that point been told that the 130/150 injectors were the same?

Keep an eye on it when you get it back, not uncommon for the tandem pump to go at the same time. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen to you though :)

its at a VW specialist, wouldnt they see or pick p on that anyway ?

how much is one, just wondering if its worth changing as a precaution unless there silly money ?

well they are about 250 i think ,, second hand are around 50
mines leaking now also from the outer gasket

hmmmm might have to warn them or get them to inspect it at least

dont trust anywhere to be as thorough as i would be on my own car. wish it was a job i could do myself

was this issue not sorted on later Pd engines? what's the year of the car M20 and oil used?

Not sure, I know I've heard about the cams on these though.

It's a 2004 model. Oil used was castrol edge diesel 5w 40. Put in 4.5L

i read they hardened the lifters (think it was that) was a while ago though search it on here as this is were i read it :) i use castrol edge 5/30 only due to it gets around the system faster in cold weather which we have had and use genuine oil filters also 5/30 is the best to use imop, i would be gutted if i had to spend what you did after paying out on a cam belt change ect :(

got it back today.

Had a new cam, cam bearings, tappets, shells and cambelt

£665 all in.

Noticed since i had it back, it takes a few extra cranks to start. before i turned the key and it started straight away, now it starts after 3\4 cranks.....any ideas ?

Timing could be off by a tooth, mine was the opposite, took three or four to start then started instantly after the cam change. Don't think there's any real dangers from it but if it bothers you then just ask them to re check it :) did you have the water pump done as well?

well i had a cambelt and pump changed 6k ago, then unfortunately this happened, so this time around just the belt.

might get them to check then, also some excess white smoke, dont know if that will go when the new oil settles or if its related to cam timing ?

VW bloke recommended i bed the cam and tappets in for 500 miles, so iam taking it easy.

Bedding in advice I was given was no high revs and no excessive idling for 500-750 miles, hopefully someone will back up my thought about the timing being out.

Can't think why fresh oil would contribute to white smoke, it could just be because the intercooler pipes have all been off
