ive read that wheel spacers make them handle alot better

question 3

what kind do you guys have?where do i get them?what 1s are best etc?any trouble with fitting with the alloys above?

ill be wanting a dump valve also.but i cant just get a normal 1 can i?it has to be a recirculating or something?or am i being stupid?lol

Hi there,

i'll tell you first before somone else does and in not as nice a way as i will, but before you post a thread asking for help or advice, use the search button at the top right.

You;ll find alot of the anwsers your looking for there. If you still cant find any help then post and ask.

Hi mate,

Those wheels look good. I'm a big fan of compomotives. This thread will tell you what you need to know about offsets, sizes and spacers:

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1357365&postcount=2

It's true that you do need a recirculating D/V. Some people use atmospheric types and get away with it but it's definitely not recommended. I use the forge 007p recirculating dump valve and when you use a big cone filter it does sound quite good. If you're sure you dont like the 007p then forge do the split-r which many people find "louder". They are expensive though.

To be honest with you I wouldn't bother with coilovers. Good if you plan on taking to the track but for road use I would say get a good spring and damper combo. Lots to choose from out there. H&R are quite highly rated round here. Never had any problems with my koni sport kit either.

Hope that helps a bit. As mentioned before there is a search function available and there really is loads of good info on there. People in general are nice around here but sometimes they get a bit weary when they see the same question all the time.

You want Eibach 15mm rear spacers, speak to badger5 on here or im sure the others can help (AMD Essex / Jabbasport / Awesome GTI).

Think the standard offset is ET35, pretty sure you'd be fine with ET35-ET38 wheels.

Ok. I'm on my 8th can of export now and patience is wearing.

Don't bother with coilies. Get an adjustable spring and damper kit. Why do you want coilovers? Are you planning on doing some trackdays or do you just want to brag to your mates that you have coilovers?

By all means, if you genuinely need the adjustablity that coilovers provide then go for it.

However, I have a friend who bought a set of KW V3 coilovers for his audi s3. He paid over a grand for them. After he had them fitted he adjusted them once to get them to the height he wanted. For the next 18 months he never touched them. He told me himself. "It looks good, why bother?"

Why not get a spring and damper kit that sits at the height you want?

If 16"s are too small get 17"s. 17" wheels fit with no problems as long as you don't go more than 7" wide and stick to the correct offset.

I have tried to be nice. I genuinely want new people to join the forum and have the same learning experience I have had. This forum is full of people who really know their stuff and are willing to give up some of their time to help you. Just try to search first.

You may laugh at somebody who has been on this forum for two years but only has a post count of 97 but I can honestly say that the search function has rarely let me down. It is very, very rarely that a subject arises that hasn't been covered before.

:search:

sorry for being a pain.i want coilies to get the adjustable height.

but you just said you can get adjustable springs and dampen kits?thought they were just coilies?

the 17s of those wheels only come in et11-15 and only 8" wide :(

the suspension will go on with the standard wheels till i decide if i want new alloys.i kinda like the standard.
