Hi Guys,

What sidelight bulbs are you using with your 5000k HIDS?

I bought the white leds sidelights as i was going to buy 6000k hids, but got 5000k instead. Now the white LEDS look a bit odd against the white/yellow 5000k.

Is it best just to use standard sidelights with the 5000k's???

fair enough!
i would probably keep the standard sidelights as 5000k is the lowest temp you can get on hid's as halogen temp is only 3200k or something around that!

ive had 5000k and 6000k on my past cars and found 6000k too blue for me,the 5000k were the best in my opinion and have to say they were ideal,a really nice colour (slight hint of blue and white just right)and floods the road with brilliant white light.
They really do look the same as cars with O.E hid lights as standard, much better match than 6000k
as for sidelights...

Lowest HID you can get is 3000K, which are similar colour to Halogen, just more light.

Totally agree. Didn't like 6000K, too blue. Seen loads of people getting tugged round my way for blue lights. Light on the road was loads better too. I've also run 4300K HID's, and they are excellent, couple of people on here didn't realise they were HID's the colour match was that good!

Me and you must be following each other from shop to shop. ;)
I've done exactly the same as for the short time the 6k worked i thought they were too blue and have now got 5k which are pure white.
I've just sent for a set of new sides from that link that lee posted. Will let you know how I get on.

Hahaha holdi, i think your right mate, we are just going the same way!

hids4u have said i may need a different kit, because of the light going off, but they are going to see how we get on first! Bizarre!

What sidelights are you using, the LED ones ive bought, are very white and don't quite match the 5000k so well as the 6000k. What side lights did u use?

so would you say it is better to get the 4300 rather than the 6000 HID's

seriously, how do Police tell the difference, as I see lots of standard BMW's, Mercs etc all with very bright lights, which dont look any different to these HID's at all

they are a good match colourwise for 6k hids but tbh what I dont like about them is, because they are a single led facing forward, they dont really illuminate the reflector like the standard bulb does. Best way of describing it is it just looks like a dot of light.
I've ordered a set of these to try from the link lee posted

I'm using these:

I have them fitted to both my leon and ibiza, they are more bluey than 5000k ones. I think they match the HID's perfectly imo. I've had no probs from the plod though. Heres a pic:

They are probably the ones i should have got to go with 6k hids - they are a good match and light up the whole reflector.
I thought the 6k hids were a bit bluish for my liking tho.

Tbh they look even more blue on the pic than they do in the flesh.
