Hi CupraRacer, I had been away from the forum and this thread for some time but I see you are continuing your study and testing of turbochargers on the 2.0 TSI gen3 as if not a day has passed :coolthumb

A year ago, I had decided the best option for my needs would be an LM500 v2 tuned at 480-500hp as it seemed the golden line between daily driveability (my 90% of the drive is boring commutes at 2000rpm...), fast spool and strong performance. Also for the reason I'm not willing to do extended modifications like fuel pump, dsg clutches or even less so, forged internals. I'd like to go as high as I can safely go with just intercooler and downpipe obviously, and intake and DSG tune probably. My undestanding from your posts is that those basic mods are enough for a 480hp upgraded turbo.

However, I wanted to first spend some time with the car and decide If I keep it long enough to justify such mods so I never proceeded to any upgrade. And now I read about the LM500 Track IS38 that has come out since last summer and it seems that for someone who wants to limit power at 480hp and keep the mods to a minimum is a better choice than running a LM500 v2 at 480hp, is that right? Also, how does their spooling compare for daily driving? Is the Track a quicker turbo in the low rpm?

Another reason I plan on sticking with 480hp and for which I think 500+ turbos are not the best option for me is that it's a GPF car without multi point injection any more so maybe it's not even possible at all to go much above 480 without big modifications in the fueling system.

Is my thinking correct or would you recommend another turbocharger for this scenario?

Hi, the LM500 Gen2 has been a great turbo since 2017 (tuners world-wide still buy it like crazy), but, honestly, there is no real reason for buying it any longer, because the LM575 IS38 has been released and does EVERYthing even better - faster spool, more potential, the same price, even better for low boost tune 480 HP which is better for stock engines, etc.
Check the dynogram compared to LM500 V2 here:

So you recommend the 575 over the Track even for a 480hp map? Interesting. I thought the 575 would be slower in the lower rpm but comparing their curves, the Track makes only around 10hp more until 3K, then from 3250 onwards the 575 runs away with a +40-60hp everywhere.

What are their differences out of curiosity? I guess same core but different wheels?
