3 Beeps - Stumped

I've read about what this means but i've checked all the levels of coolant and fluids in the car and they all seem to be fine.

Theres no fault codes showing so i guess all sensors are working fine, i had the coolant sensor replaced about 6-8 months ago as well.

But i did lose a lot of coolant, pretty much most of it when i had a pipe come off the lower part of the header tank, i since then filled it up with water.

Now what the hell is it beepin at me for?

Replaced the one in the coolant hose to the side of the rocker.

Not overheating at all either.

Why would i need a new expansion tank?

Also my outside temp sensor seems to be stuffed, its always showin really low temps, always around the freezing mark, could this have anything to do with it?

The header tank has two prongs in it to detect the coolant level - the three beeps is the low coolant level warning. But gettings the three beeps when there's enough coolant in the tank is a common fault.

It doesn't chuck a fault because the sensor's not always faulty, just the two prongs have got scaled up.

I was able to clean the prongs on mine by gently scraping with a screwdriver blade, but if yours is only 6-8months old, it might just be knackered.

the tanks are expensive around 150 notes iirc, and it has a removeable sensor as well, so if it goes tits up its easy to replace.

is the sensor available cheap enough seperately though as the original VAG tank has the sensor moulded in i believe
