Know this have been asked and you all probably had enough of people asking, I have done a search but can only find a few posts.

Got a Mk2 Cupra Sport 16v and I been saving to get port & polished head, cams, remap and maybe throttle bodies. But been told that I could get a 20vT lump and if I fit in myself would cost roughly the same as doing all the work to the 2.0 16v.

I know the electrics are going to be a pain to wire up but how much extra parts are needed? Will the 2.0 16v gearbox work okay with the 20vT lump.

Does anyone know a rough price on what it would cost for the engine, extra parts and wiring be?

I know someone's going to say "Why not buy a mk3" but I love the idea of a 20vT lump in the Mk2.

Cheers (sorry for the question to be asked again),
Dave

well i have limited knowldge of mk2's. But i was pretty sure that mk2's were very similar to the mk2 golfs.

if so the conversion should be quite easy, as is very strigh forward conversion on the mk2 golfs. I think you may be able to use the gearbox but not sure. best to check with someone like JBS who would do th esaid conversion. Would be quick too.

bolt the mk3 front end to your car and re-fit your panels.otherwise you'd be driving round with a shagged rear end:rolleyes:

Swapping into a 16v Ibiza is not especially hard as much of what you need is already there: gearbox, brakes, subframes, hubs etc etc.

The wiring isn't something you have a go at yourself with no idea IMO.

The best way is to do all the easy mechanical stuff (physically installing the engine is laughably easy); connect the driveshafts up and so on.

Wire the loom into the motor and have a pro tidy it up and run it into your fuse box.

This won't cost much at all. Do it :)

P.S. Finally, someone that doesn't want to make a 1.4 fast.
