2004 Seat leon 1.9 TDI inspection hole (area of the timing belt)

Hi All,

I am new to the forum, require some help if possible. My 2004 Seat Leon 1.9 Tdi Cupra timing belt was contaminated, had the belt changed. I had another look today to see how the dirt got into that area and noticed theres some sort of inspection hole behind the cover (engine block side) which is exposed. Should there be some sort of plug that covers that?, thanks in advance for your help.
