2002 car - wont start!

Mine's just been struck down with the same problem (55k 2004 plate 1.2sx). Was running fine yesterday, pumped a ball up using the tyre compressor then today, starter ticks over, not even a hint of engine life until you release the key and then it shakes and "winds down" as if you had just turned it off.

At first I thought flat battery but I've strapped a battery charger/engine starter to it to no avail.

What's the damage to get the timing belt changed? As usual, worst possible timing.

Well mine has been fixed now.
However..... I went to the garage yesterday and they said yeah we are just finishing off putting a few nuts and bolts on it but i have got a modified timing chain so this problem should not happen again or something. They lowered it down then reversed it out and took it for a drive. No harm done, they came back and said the EMC has just come on, we need to get you something for your back break lights which will be done for tomorrow because i demanded it needed to be done as i am going to prison today to see someone. When i start to walk out of the garage i notice that my drivers side wheel arch has had something driven into it and my car is dented!

Mine's been looked at............ Timing chain is believed to have SNAPPED!!!

Looking at an £800+ bill if there has been no damage caused to any of the cylinders

All this on top of my MoT, tax, insurance and wedding within the next month :censored: Deep Joy.[:@]

Luckily i had all of mine paid for and the body work is being payed for by the garage who fixed my car also.
The only problem i have which has annoyed me is that when i take my key out of the ignition the radio no longer switches itself off and the light no longer comes on to light up the car but it used to do this before. Need to look in my manual and see if it says anything in there.

bump!

still the same problem, not been fixed, took it to SEAT (shxt more like) they tried in vain to fix it with some random parts costing shed loads, which made NO diffrence, my mate gave up with SEAT

guess it shows how well they know their cars eh?

car is rotting away, on a drive, and my mate is still paying for the heap, that NO ONE knows how to fix.

anybody who buys a seat is a fool.

its had new timing chain and the whole engine has been checked over and oked

just does not go, just turns over, for ever

no error codes

As it's been so long sinse it's been a runner the petrol in the tank could of gone off. drain the tank and put some fresh in and try that.

And before you go DDAAAAA, yes petrol can go off.

i wont go DDAAAAA!, the octane changes over time i think?

anyway thats has been thought of! my friend has had 2 or 3 guys ( mobiles) to come to look at it, one even locked the keys in, and caused £300 to the door, to get to the keys.....

been to SEAT and another garage, SEAT tried to sell him a apart that car the car does not use!

had the engine stripped and checked, and some valves replaced at great cost

everything has been checked, and rechecked

it should work

but does not

and he is still paying for the car, since has had to buy another car

cannot belive in this day and age , that no one can fix it, even seat just made things up!

You may not have a reason to lie.

However, people create controversial threads regularly on forums. Called 'trolls'. Considering your low post count, it's a possibility. Not saying you ARE, just saying a POSSIBILITY.
