200 cell sports CAT - cheaper alternative.

Thought I would share my experience with my 'cheap' sports CAT. I got a Miltek de-cat system and with my MOT looming, not wishing to put the OEM DP and CAT back on, I looked into a Miltek 200 cell sports CAT but retailing at around £500 I didn't fancy that.

Speaking to a local fabricator he said he would weld a sports CAT in for me. So I went and found a universal 200 cell sports CAT. Magnaflow are the main company I found that can provide these. Just simply match the size of your system to the selection of CATs available from magnaflow, in my case 3" 76mm system. Plenty of others are available.

The UK retailer I found, nemesis Motorsport (also on eBay)

Mine came in at £97, arrived quickly too.

I took this to my local fabricator who then was able to cut out the space from my current de-cat pipe and weld in the Magnaflow sports CAT. Happy days.

This cost me £90 quid in labour. A massive saving IMO now prices will vary but still alot cheaper that the big manufacture alternative. I'm very happy withe the results and the savings.

Hope this helps anyone

That is very interesting!!

Might have a look at doing this as I got a P0420-Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold fault code reading last week so it looks like my CAT is on the way out!

Only problem is I haven't a clue what exhaust system I have on my car....I know it isn't the standard one.

You don't have a comparison of the core in the miltek have you?
Be nice to see the two... mines an old blueflame 100cell and its never missed a beat come mot time.

It looks very restrictive but thats the only core I've seen.

Magnaflow cats are also used in the 42 Draft Designs downpipes. Couple of dutch members of a Seat forum are running them without any problems and pass the MOT (the dutch version) without any issues
