2.0 16V - New key cutting

Hi guys.


I know you cant get a new remote fob etc for the mk2's but i only have one key and have a sudden worry of losing it.


how much will it cost and where do i get a new key with immob chip cut??


can it be done at a locksmiths or timpsons etc or has it got to be from the dealer etc??


bear in mind i dont car about central locking - this is simply to start the car properly etc.

I've got a spare fob from my gti, but the key blade you can get from dealer already cut to your car i belive, £15 delived if you want the key mate

ill let you know about the fob part - i take it its the infra red earlier style fob?

also how much do the ready cut keys cost from a dealer??

try ya local locksmiths

mine did a remote type for £18 and a solid normal key for £12

both had the chip cloned over from the original and all i added was a new remote that takes 15 sec odd to program
