I could be wrong on this...but. Once you start sticking 19" or bigger on cars because of the additional centrifugal forces your brakes will be under considerably more stress. More wear and your stopping distances will increase. I'm sure I saw this info on the TV, and they mentioned 19" and above you need "truck" brakes to be able to stop.

yea but insurance would never know that it wasnt just the lc suspension (no inspector would ever pick up on that)!!!
I have 19's on my cupra and i drove it for a while on standard suspension (now on koni FSD and Eibach) and it looked a little high but nothing like as bad as you would expect. The pic on my signature is it on standard suspension and its on unlevel ground which makes it look a little higher. I would say that it has affected the brakes a little bit but overall im landed with the look and definately happy i fitted 19's. Just my opinion mate

this would only be true if the new wheel and tyre were to outweight the old ones, and in most cases, not all, alloys are lightweight and actually reduce the weight of the wheels which is the point,

actually thinking about it - the size of the complete wheel will be about the same - you would use lower profile tyres.

presuming you had the same rolling radius then the car would not be 'high'.
19" would give a harsher ride due to the lack and tyre side wall and increase in unsprung weight. What size would you be upgrading from?
Depending on the weight and quality of the alloys, it may slow acceleration and also braking. ( wheels basically become like a flywheel).

also regarding the LCR suspension, its not a straight swap as the ARBs attach to different places on the R. (they attach the the suspension struts on the R which is different to the rest of the range.)

It would probably look ok on stadard height, although of course would look better lowered.

The R suspension wont fit as the fronts are the same as the S3 and Golf 4motion, whereas on the LC theyre the same as the Golf GTi (MKIV)
