130tdi clutch 13k miles!!

hi guys,

I have just bought a 2006 cordoba 130tdi with only 13k on the clock.

I am sure that the clutch has slipped on 2 occasions in 5th gear at 2250rpm.

Is it possible for a clutch 2 wear out on a standard car with this low miles?

I havent been able to replicate the clutch slip, the roads were icy when this happened, so that may explain it?

Is there any way to test this and would I be able to claim under warranty?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thank

There's been stories of new cars where the clutch is slipping so it's quite possible that it'll slip at 13k.

Its very possible it could be worn out at that mileage, it depends if that last owner was a clutch rider or not and how much abuse it got.

But really i would expect it to slip in 2nd and 3rd more and more when accelerating, not when cruising in 5th.

Might it have been the ice?

hi,

yeah, i suppose there is no way of knowing how its been driven previously - being a cordoba - im assuming it was mabe an older driver?

I was out tonight and its fine in 2/3rd. If it had been ice i thought the TCS would have kicked in?

I really hope its not gone - i bought the car as a reliable workhorse that i thought would not need anything major doing to it..

sorry, forgot to mention it was at full throttle in 5th gear.

The clutch will not slip in the lower gears unless its completely shot. There is less resistance to the engine gaining revs in the lower gears so the slip is most likely to occur in the 3rd 4th 5th 6th
