12-Volt Battery Low

I've just bought a nearly new, Oct 74 plate, Cupra Leon Estate VZ2 333, dealer ex-demonstrator from a main dealer. It's really mint... apart from me getting the low 12-volt battery warning message on the infotainment screen. I get this if I'm sat in the car fiddling with the vehicle setting etc. This is with ignition on but without the engine running. (Don't like to sit in idling cars). Is this normal for a car of my age?

Do you think I'm getting this error because it's been a dealer demonstrator – so potentially lot's of short trips with punters sitting in the car playing with the infotainment screen for extended periods of time? Or is it a genuine fault / weakness of the mk4 Leons?

FYI - the dealership I bought it from is over 200 miles away from where I live so I can't just pop in and have them look at it.

Even the 200+ mile trip home driving the car hasn't solved the issue. Could it be an alternator problem?

Do you recommend me calling their service team or get it booked in under warranty at my local Cupra dealer?

The other option, before this, is that I could try and charge the 12-volt batter back up using my NOCO Genius 2 battery maintainer?

Thx

If it was an alternator issue you would have a different error, sounds yours is due to a broken/faulty 12v battery.

Try charging it again but, if it was just low, then the drive home should have fixed it.

If you do have to replace the battery then ensure you get someone who can code the new one to the car correctly.

Thanks for your advice @BoomerBoom. First I will try my trickle charger. Then if it's still playing up I'll have to contact Cupra service. What are the chances of something like this being fixed under warranty?
