If the original gearbox is certified to handle 250Nm, how can it cope with the re-mapped 320Nm??? I hear about a lot of Ibizas 110 sport, which have up to 170bhp and a standard gearbox.

I thought they were certified for 310????

Anyway, anyone remember the portuguese guy with the 214hp [on mild map!!!] and something like 450Nm on that cream mk3 110 on stock internals [!!!] and stock gearbox?

My car has 110.000+ kilometers. I bought it used and already mapped and don't know exactly the hp/torque values now. Anyway, after a bit of investigation, I've been told that the tuner the previous owner went to uses a map that brings the 110 to 135-140hp and somethine like 280-290Nm. As for today, it never had a single problem with the gearbox [touching wood] but bear in mind I drive kinda conservatively.

Gearbox isn't really a problem, worse with the clutch, depending on the engine model. The latest TDI 110 (VP37 ASV ) serial clutch can handle up to 350NM starting from at least 2500 rpm (the lower the max. torque is situated the worse for the clutch). We've got quite a few such cars in PL with the torque over 350NM and the only problem is the clutch, never heard about problems with gearbox. There are Sachs upgrade kits that can haldle 380NM and Sachs Racing series that are even more resistant.

PS. I will never believe in 450NM on stock internals until I'll see that :) Possible, of course, but the engine will die very soon.
