1.9 TDI Engine type?

Hi guys, new to the forums.

Just bought a Seat Leon MK2 2007, 1.9 TDI Reference (105bhp).

Does anyone know if this model has a PD Engine or not? as I have had no luck from searching Google so far .

Any help would be much appreciated, including how to identify a PD engine from a common rail engine, as I would like to know what oil I will need before it's required.

a pd engine has a big plastic camcover and no visible injector pipes to the cylinders
a common rail has a silver inlet manifold at the front of engine and has injector pipes visible
also the engine code starts c--- ie caba

what do you mean by this?
the engine had silver metallic pipes coming from what i assume was the pump, at the front right (as if your driving) of the engine compartment, that ran along the front side of the engine block, and into the injectors

Unless I am mistaken, the 1.9 TDI is a Pumpe Duse 'PD' engine. The lower power 105ps engine was replaced by the 1.6 TDI which is a common rail 'CR' engine.

The 130 and 150ps 1.9s were replaced by the 2.0 PD 140 and 170, but later evolved into the CR engines and later into the 150 and 185ps CR engines. A 110ps 2.0 was also introduced which sits alongside the 1.6 TDI.

All 1.9s in the mk1 and mk2 Leon are PD units.

It is a PD unit. There has never been a 1.9TDI Common Rail unit made by VAG. Only the 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 TDI units in Seats are Common Rail.

Your engine is a 1.9 8v SOHC 'pumpe duse' engine with 103bhp/105ps.

So I'll need to use the specific PD oil when I make an oil change then?

Yes, you'll need to use VAG approved oil suitable for the PD engine. Go to a dealer (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat or Skoda) or a VAG specialist and they can sell you the right oil. If you want to save money, halfords will have a chart that will tell you what oil to use.

You will need to know if the car is longlife (variable servicing) or fixed servicing intervals.

Just use 5w30s 507.00 spec oil then it's good for long life or not and the better of the oils that can be used. It's all I put in my car and that's on fixed, 10k service intervals.

hmm, it's currently in the garage having the heater control fixed before i pick it up, when it comes back, i'll check the manual, and i'll check the engine does look like that too.. shouldn't be too long.
