Hi Guys

Last year i got given a 1.9tdi leon to use as a work wagon. Its served me well apart from being sluggish to start in the mornings. I charged the battery last year and a strip fuse popped on top of the battery when i started the car afterwards, i thought nothing of it as everything worked fine.
As the weathers turned cold i wanted to get the cold starting sorted out, i checked the glow plugs and found no power getting to them and after some investigation found the 80amp strip fuse on top of the battery to be blown. I replaced the fuse switched the ignition on with temp switch unplugged and sure enough glow plugs work a treat.
The problem i am having is everytime i start the engine the 80amp fuse pops again straight away. I have checked the alternator output and its 14.3 volts which i wouldn't consider excessive.
Anyone got any ideas or had this problem before???

Cheers in advance :)

At a wild guess, one or more of the glow plugs are below spec, drawing too much current. This should be logged, and throw up a CEL. A read of the fault codes using VCDS may help.

Yeah I thought this too but no fault codes stored in engine or instrument cluster:wtf:

Anyone??
Can't see it being a dodgy glow plug as the fuse doesn't pop with ignition on, only when engine is started

From looking at the manuals and my previous posts, I think the glowplug fuse should be 50A not 80A.

Which postion is this 80A fuse in?
