Well, as per my other thread about Revo settings, I had three 1/4 mile runs today.

Had the traction control off and was very nervous on the first run - couldn't believe it considering its not the first time I've done this! Ran a couple of 14 sec runs and when I went for the third I had crap reactions to the lights, but got the gear changes / traction much better and posted 13.29 at 103mph! Well pleased with that, much better than I had expected.

The three runs I had were against pretty random cars - Saxo VTS, Capri (!) and a 306GTi - beat all of them, obviously! (although they all beat me off the line....).

Was this at a proper drag strip with good accurate timing gear as that is a good time for a stage 1 car with no chassis mods???

Yup, Stage 1 Revo b8, t5, f9. It was at a disused airfield with the local Drag Club Association - proper timing lights, 0-60ft timings etc. I was surprised with that time, but also very happy!

The best 0-60ft time I had was a 2.410. I think my gear changes and pick was much better on that run than the first two and I floored it in third and fourth not worrying about whether I would have traction issues or not.

I saw some of the bikes there doing low 9s and terminal speeds of 145+! Much prefer four wheels..

Pretty sure this will appear as being sour grapes/pessimistic or whatever, that that seems a pretty optimistic time given a rather slow 60 foot time and low top speed, but fair play.

As a comparison, the 2 sub 13 second cars (12.9) both did 60 feet in 2.2/2.1 seconds and topped out at 115/111 respectively. Based on this, had the 2.2 60 foot time been matched here rather than 2.4, 13.09 would have been on the cards @ just over 100mph with 60bhp less.

Was the car stripped at all?

Remember that was at crail al so not as good a surface probs.

That is a very good time! I thought high 13's were the limit for a stage 1 ar! My best with no chassis mods or stripped was 13.8 and i really couldnt see me beating that!

What happened the two times u got 14's? Thats like nearly a second of a difference!

Well done though

I had taken the spare wheel etc. out (didn't do the back seats, but was tempted!) and had ~1/2 a tank of fuel and me (75Kg ish).

I agree that the time does seem quick, but the timing seemed fine for everyone else so I have no evidence to prove or disprove it one way or another.

On the first two runs I can say that my gear changes and throttle application caused a far amount of "traction issues". LOL! Will have to try again next year (maybe with some other mods) and see what happens.

Fair play.

The detail I was working from was the launch (60 foot time) being approx 0.25 seconds slower than the two 12.9 second cars - which brings you to the end of wheelspin territory. Thereafter, power and weight are king, and its clear there is a significant top speed disadvantage by the end.

The two 12.9 cars were working light wheels, light brakes, completely stripped, S2+ mods, LSD, next to no fuel, octane boosters, sticky tyres etc, one with a WOT box.

I guess I just find it hard to believe that a slow launch a slow top speed can equate to a near identical time, because the only place the gap could be closed would be mid range, and if you do the sums, its just not really possible - in other words, a heavier less powerful car with less traction (ie no diff) with a slower launch and 10% slower top speed doing similar times is just unlikely.

Yup, not going to argue with that. Unfortunately, I wasn't organised enough to have my own kit i.e. VCDS or GPS to back up or refute what I was getting from race control - still happy though!

well done.

Just goes to show what these cars are capable of. Even in standard form.

If you serious about doing more runs I'd recommend fitting a short shifter. The distance in the gate between each gear in the cupra is so huge.

I keep changing my mind each time I consider my next mod. Should I go more power or should I add stuff to make more use of the power I have. Always a dilema!

I'm thinking tbe first, then/and twintake or dbilas. This is of course after I have saved up for a while!

Short shift could be interesting...
