Aright dude, i have done this on a spare box and the car sounds good, but no noticable difference, just a little revvier. There are two ways of getting the induction effect cheaply:

1. Drill holes in the back of the airbox in the side where there is the least head from the engine, many small holes over a few big ones seem to be better as lowers the risk of you sucking unwanted stuff.

2. Make a forced induction set up by running some piping from the airbox feed down into the lower part of the front bumper.

Hope this helps

try this guide

explains it all pretty much [B)]

i dumped an old crap K+N and used the above - sounds just as good and filters better (std filter) and when you push it you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference

Being an ex 1.4 owner, I dont think drilling the box will make a difference as it sits on top the engine where it'll just suck in hot air = not good.

Relocating the intake to a cooler part of the bay & ample ducting is the way to go.

i *had* some of the ally tubing ( from b&q) fed from.my air intake, down to the bottom of my bumper...it did breathe better..
now have a K&N sit in the 'hole' were the Cupra filter normally sits.. STILL fed with the same ally tubing from the bottom of the bumper.. it now (apparently ) *Growls* a bit better?? i cant really hear it.. im normally IN the car!!
