£201.95 from custom code on the phone just now.....power gains (roughly) = 75bhp

says thats for all custom codes accross uk for time being, with some sort of discount i believe, he also did states minimal gains because its such a low engine but gains never the less....£201 for 10bhp isnt bad at all

That's sound advice, but I can't imagine any of us 1.2 owners being a) very old, or b) very experienced on the road. So for us, Cupras are yeeeaaaars away. What do we do until then?

1.4 sport 100 remaps to about 120bhp, insurance group 5 looks good, decent mpg as standard.

Other option would be a dirty diesel, 1.4TDi lots of torque incomparison to the 1.2 petrol, great MPG, and alot more tunable than the lil petrols, i think their group 4 or 5 if im not mistaken, iirc they remap from about 85bhp to around the 105bhp mark and the torque will increase dramtically as well. Im not entirely certain on the figures tho but still very cheap to run.

I have a 1.4L, 75bhp and if I can find 1 for the right money I am going to try and pick up a 1.4TDi. Group 4 I think, tax is £30 cheaper and if I got it remapped to around 100, i'd say it would be a nice car.

Quick question, I know there is both a 75hp and 85hp 1.4 TDi, is there a difference in years or how do I know what engine the car would have?

dont quote me on this (and i dare say i will be corrected shortly :)) but i believe it depends on the year of the car and engine code. Similar to the PD130 engines. All in theory the same engine however the BLT engine out puts on average more than the ASZ (altho not an exact science) and with the 1.4 petrol older models had 75bhp but the new ones had 85bhp.

tbh with the diesel it wont make much differance just check the torque outputs and how they differ

Cheers, that sounds right. I'll be looking for a 6 year old car with around 50k miles, so i'd say it would have the 75hp engine. I'll be happy as long as I could remap it to around the 100 mark.
