09 Seat XL 1.9 Diesel Boost Issue

Hi Folks,

My names Chris and am ew round here but only came across the site when trying to fix an issue on my Seat Altea XL.

Basically was fine going to work then on the way home when the turbo kick in I can hear air releasing somewhere and I get a dip in power like the turbo doesn’t work.

When stationary and I put some accelerator on I don’t hear the sound at all, when driving I can tell it’s definitely coming from the drivers side.

After doing some reading online I’ve tried looking for a split in a pipe and took off what I believe to be the boost pipe to see if the clip was warn at all but the look fine on both ends (circled the parts in the pic maybe someone can say that I’m checking the right part). Does have a little bit of play it in but nothing excessive maybe a couple of mm and can maybe twist it the about a cm.

Have got the day off today so very open to any ideas on anything to check at all.

I also used to have a Mondeo which had a boost leak and that sounded like a whine where as this sounds more like a release (if that makes sense).

Just to add to this it doesn’t go into limp mode at all and it only occurs over like 2000 rpm when the turbo kicks in.
