get under the car, get a pic of the mount and you will see some numbers around the edge of the circle and behind the mount which donates what you have. look at my pics.

testing in the warm and dry weather it feels much more planted and just dumps the power down. it feels a bit more 'together' up front and like there is a cross brace or sth in the car. steering feels more connected too.

Anyone with a 300 with a photo of the mount so that we all know which one to order?

I wouldn't rely on what other people's 300s come equipped with. Best to stick your phone under the car and take a pic yourself to be sure.

Is there any difference at all (other than colour) between the Forge and the 034 Motorsport mounts? I've seen that Forge Type A is the 034 Motorsport version 2, and the price is very similar (couple of £s).

I'd be interested to know what the long term (i.e. years / 1000s of miles) effects are of fitting the 034 or similar dog bone mount inserts.

It limits the rotational movement of the engine, in doing so it contacts the inner edge of the factory mount. I don't know what the factory mount is made off, so I can only speculate if there would be wear or fatigue to this part. When it does make contact there will be vibration transferred in to the chassis that wouldn't normally occur. Plus are there greater forces transferred into the other engine mounts?

I've searched around on the web for long term reviews and can't find anything yet. There is a thread on the Audizine forum from 2005 called 'Introducing the 8V (MQB) Audi A3/S3 Billet Aluminum Dogbone Mount Insert by 034!' which means people have been fitting this component to their engines for over 10 years.

I can't claim to have any answers, just food for thought.

Having said that I've bought one with the hope that it will alleviate some of the transmission slop, tramping and gear change vagueness. It can always be remove.

Managed to fit this morning (280 version 1 mount) on second attempt. First attempt yesterday failed as I couldn't get the bolt undone! I sprayed the bolt with penetrating fluid and left overnight. Also made a longer breaker bar from a trolley jack handle. She eventually came loose! Bolt out, mount in, bolt in. Job done. First impression on start up is you can feel more vibration as the motor kicks into life but once running no difference felt. This vibration was felt through the steering wheel. Startup without holding the wheel, the increase in vibration is hardly noticeable through the cabin / seat. The only other time I felt increased vibration was when setting off slowly to a crawl, navigating round a small car park (dsg box). Gear changes now feel tighter. Down changes sometimes felt sloppy during everyday driving, a noticeable forward motion as the engine braking came in. Now this is all but eliminated. Not had chance to test wheel hop as only driven a few miles in town. Hopefully will get chance for a longer run later as long as the thunderstorms stay away. First impressions are good, limited nvh, which if wheel hop is eliminated then it's a price I'm willing to pay.
