I've had 2 ibizas now, one at 25k and my gti at 55k miles and both have had this sort of whining noise, sounds like an alternator bearing perhaps? anyone had this problem. Its not a belt because they have only been replaced approx. 5k miles ago. Thanks, David.

When i switch the engine off i am getting what can best be described as an 'electrical whine' noise coming from under the bonnet! It seems to last 30seconds or so! Is anyone else experiencing this, or know what it might be? Cheers :confused:

ok, i have a wee problem, on the way hoem the otherday my car developed a pretty loud whine when u lift off and coast. its had a slight whine since i had it, but its suddenly got alot worse, to add ot that i can smell that horrible dirty oil smell usualy associated with gear oil.... got under...

when i reverse i get a wierd loud whine sounds like its coming from the back of the car. i cant really describe how it sounds. just wondering if any one else gets this and they no what it is... cheers

Just joined Cupra.net today as I have just bought an '05 lean cupra R with 12K miles on it. From about day 2 of owning it I started noticing a whing noise from the engine bay when I lift off the accelerator. The noise is really noticeable in 1st when I let the accelerator go after reaching 20mph...

between 2 n 3000rpm every now n again theres a whine, aint sure if its from the front wheels or engine. Car isnt losing power or anything and its not all the time. Any ideas???

I'm not sure if this is a problem, but it is something I've noticed recently. With the stereo off and on a quiet road I can here, quite clearly, the turbo spinning up and down, but not a whoosh noise, it's more of a whine. It's not a noise I ever associated with my 20VT, but is very prominent...

Just got my new 2.0L Tdi and is now producing a high pitched whine on and off but on a regular basis. Anyone had this?
