satnav

Where does anyone mount their sat-navs? I've got a garmin nuvi and find it a bit too far away on the windscreen and the wires/adaptor make it look really untidy. Is it possible to hard wire it in? What about mounting on the dash? Any pics? What is the tomtom pre-install like?

Hi guys. I just got myself a MFD2 sat nav. A friend of mine has a Touareg, and he wanted to replace his sat nav with a aftermarket one, so got his sat nav. I know the fascia of the mfd2 for touareg is different than the Golf/León/Octavia MFD's, but i guess the wiring and stuff is all same...

I'm in the market for a portable satnav (leaning towards Garmin Nuvi 310D) but would rather not have one stuck on my windscreen all the time. I wondered if anyone has done a simple install in the space infront of the gearstick or anything?

Has this been done, had a search but cant find any photo's, only one chap saying dont attempt it its too hard!! Anyway, 1. Would like to remove front double air vents. 2. Cap off the vent pipe (or leave it if its not needed) 3. Build a fibreglass cage to fit in and hold the SatNav...

hi guys, im gunna hardwire my sat nav power lead tonight. Looked at some threads and decided on cig lighter for power. 1 thing tho, does any1 know off top of their head what fuse the cig lighter has. thanks

A member of my family has a 2002 Toledo V5, which is having GPS issues with the Sat-nav. On the map section it flags-up where you are located from the GPS sensor, but for some reason on this one it's flagged-up as a location about 28miles from home, therefore messing-up any guidance you request...

It's my Dad's birthday tomorrow and I need to get him a present. I've decided to get him a portable Sat-Nav unit, something like a TomTom Go unit. It has to be easy to use (Dad will be 65). Can anyone recomend a good model? If so, where's the best place to pick one up? Thanks, Ade

Anyone have experience of retrofitting the stad VAG SatNav unit to an Altea - it supposedly just slots in and all wires are present?? Sounds too easy to be true!!!!! As an aside, where would the GPS antenna go (keep it clean!!!).....any drilling involved?? Cheers Bob

I have a Toledo V5 with standard fit Blaupunkt Sat Nav. I've noticed there is an AUX input of the back of the head unit. Does anyone know where I can get a lead to connect to this. I'm looking to feed it audio from an ipod. Dave
