Cracked tail lights

I've had steamed up tail lights for a while now, which I haven't had the time to take to the dealers to get checked out yet. I've noticed today that one is now cracked, and the other side seems to be starting to crack. The water has disappeared in the one starting to crack now. I know a few of us have had the water in our tail-lights,but has anyone experienced the cracking?

Yes, one of mine is cracked. Never noticed it when I bought the car (used), didn't look TBH. Don't know if it's been knocked or something more sinister.

Stress cracks maybe? There seems to be small shattering in a few areas on each of them. It's definately coming from the inside.... All of them around the edges.

Seems to be a pattern here but of course we are probably hearing mostly from people who have a problem. I didnt notice it before but after reading this thread I noticed my rear fog has condensation, not much but it will only get worse, I didn't notice a crack though.

There's another thread somewhere on here reporting a comment from SEAT that some condensation is "normal" and will disappear once the lights are on. Can't find it now though!

Make of that what you will..

I have condensation in my near side rear light cluster too but didn't think much of it as the lights work fine. Yesterday the car took it's first trip to a dealer since being supplied last July. TBH I was very impressed, it only went for an oil change service but the garage still did a thorough check and e-mailed a video of the car in their workshop pointing out the condensation. They advised me that it needs to be put right, under warranty and booked the car back in or later this month (they didn't have the part or the time yesterday).

Have been keeping an eye on my rear light clusters and cracking has now developed in the offside, front edge, nearest the wheel arch and appears to have started on the inside. Service dept agreed no sign of external damage and will try to get it replaced under warranty. Car booked in next week - will report outcome.

As this thread has been discussed numerous times i have also had my rear lights checked, found a crack in the top brake light and have this replaced. My local seat dealer has also said they have released and whole new light cluster and washer jet so it now doesnt leak and sprays out like a mist/ fan spray on the rear

I've got cracks on the edges of all 4 of the rear light clusters on mine, noticed them whilst polishing it the otherday. Going to ask the dealer to have a look.

Hi Guys,

Really pleased to see others with this issue. I gave our MK3 Leon Fr a full detailing yesterday and have noticed a crack in the passenger rear tail light cluster, condensation is getting in too. The crack is about twice the length of Peter W's, and looks in the same place. If you look through the cluster the plastic layers underneath are all cracked too.

There's not a mark on the surrounding bodywork, the cluster itself is spotless - and even free from scratches/swirls, so an external factor is highly unlikely.

Im booked in for my dealer to look at this in a week's time, how did everyone else get on with this at the dealers?

Anyone have an idea how this happens?

Thanks in advance.

Dealers are well aware of the issue and have a technical bulletin on the problem.

Caused by the bolts that hold them it in place being overtightened at the factory.

Thanks trebor,

Does yourself or anyone know the bulletin reference, or would anyone kindly PM me their registration (if you've successfully had a warranty replacement), incase i need to take this further with SEAT UK?

Heres some snaps of the offending area, look familiar?

Thanks in advance,
