weak rear wash

Hi

The rear wash has been getting progressively weak, now it takes quite a time to come through and when it does it almost only just makes it out of the nozzle.

Tips and tricks please?

Not noticed any leaks, where does the pipe run from bottle to rear of car?

I'll have a check, the motor sounds OK at least.

yeah have a feel in the boot for a wet carpet on the floor and up the side ive had this, it pops off at the joint

Hi chaps, god I am really getting sick of this car, its bleeding me dry with one fault after another!

During the night its managed to drain almost all the water in the washer tank.
The rear passenger side foot well is soaking and the front passenger foot well is also damp, could be wicking from the back I guess.

So, where does the pipe run, how do I get at it and what is likely to be the issue?

Its going to have to be a DIY fix and I am just cleared out.

Are all Leons like this or have I just got a crap one :-(

Hi OK I can see that the pipe runs along with the wires under the black plastic trim down the passenger side of the car.
How the heck do you get this trim off and back on again? Just carrying out this investigation has resulted in a miss match of the ends by the rear seats.
Any tips please?

Hi chaps, I can confirm that my foot well swimming pools are due to washer fluid.
Last evening I topped up the washer bottle, then a few hours later I saw a growing water slick on the drive under the car (where I opened up the ribber bungs) I had a good feel around and the water seems to be coming from the centre pillar/front seat belt mount, so today after work I'll get the trim off again and see what I can find.
Been laying here trying to work out the best way to repair the washer pipe assuming I can locate the hole, crack, split. Its a hard plastic.

So I was wondering about wrapping the damaged area with self amalgamating tape and cable tie each end. What have others done?

Hi all

Well the leak was not under the plastic trim at all! in fact I found it was under the dash!

There is a joiner there with the rear wash pipe wrapped in insulation tape along with the wiring loom!
However, the free end of the pipe (bit that goes to the back of the car) was not secured at all and had worked lose!
In fact it was right off allowing the water to syphon out, done into the front foot well and then into the rear!
By the looks of it, it had been doing it for a while and had soaked a few electrical connectors.
Wonder if this is why the ABS is screwing around?

Anyway here are some pics so you can get the idea:

Now the rear wash works perfectly.

I have moved the car around so that the dip on my drive makes the water run to the rear foot well and so out via the drains.

I also had an email and phone call from Sear SA and VW service here in the UK who have made a case out of my car and will be in touch soon.

And yes if the connector got wet it probably was the problem, separate the connector and wd40 it well.

credit due there, nobody has mentioned that join from the gazillion threads on wet foot wells or crap washer for the rear

Sadly broke trim clips doing this so have lose trims :-(

OK WD40 liberly applied, by the way, since I moved the car around so its sloping back to the rear of the car, there is a significant water slick under the car all over the drive!
So looks like there was/is a lot of water in it

think the bottle holds 5litres (might be 3l) of liquid, plus what's in the pipes, so yeah could be a bit.
at least with nice weather can open doors and windows to assist with drying out

LOL well I remembered we have a carpet cleaner with attachment so I have just spend time sucking my car as dray as I can, but could do with a powerful one LOL

I have EXACTLY the same problem as you on my Leon.

Ive not been able to find out how to get to the pipe join under the front passenger side dash.

Did you just pull back the carpet, or did you remove something from the underside of the dash? There appears to be a foam cover under my passenger side dash which has three plastic screws and a long strip holding it in place. I cannot remove the long strip so cannot gain access. I haven't checked under the carpet.

Don't suppose you could give me some points of how to get access to it? It would be very much appreciated!

Hi Paul

OK, you need to remove the plastic trim that sits on the left side of the passenger foot well and goes almost up under the dash.

Then the black foam cover you have already spotted, just take off the screw things and pull it back.

You will need to cut away the insulation tape around the wiring loom that also hides the pipe you want to join back up.

Then push the lose connector into the socket, make sure the pipe is not snagged and in a nice loop that tends to push the connector together.
Then add some tape around what was the lose end making sure that its pushing into the socket.
This will keep it tensioned right, something I am amazed Seat never did!

You will see at least one electrical connector that will have been getting wet, be sure to add some WD40 to this and any other vulnerable areas.

I would say do not open the connector as this may cause issues with the car and as far as I know even trigger the air bag (I don't know so I don't touch LOL)

If you get stuck or don't understand me I'll take some photos and put them up here, just ask
