My N249 bypass

Hey everyone just did my bypass, and I have to say I am more than pleased. I had heard people say here it made their DV louder, but I was sceptical. However after having it fit it really pleasantly surprized me. Clap Clap for the one that figured this out :clap:

And no error codes present on the display, so should be correct

It does look ok but is the dump valve connected to the t peice under the charge pipe? Its hard to tell from those pictures

Yes, the T piece runs to the DV, and the other side of the T piece runs through the N249 filter to the bottom port of the 2 on the left of picture.
The top port on left runs towards the firewall past DV to....i dont know what actually haha

So it should be right yes??

And I really am so pleased with sounds improvement

As ive read ppl sayin that there havent worked unless they've done it wrong

Its worth doing as it makes the dv slightly louder and dumps smoother.

And if it hasnt worked then its been done wrong

I was speaking to the tech at storm (a vag forced induction specialist) and was saying to him about the bypass.

He said it was not something he would reccomend in doing.

And why did he say not to do it? I assume you asked him that too....? :think:

I have to say that now since I did it the dump valve has become atleast twice as loud if not louder. It has to be said though that before my SplitR barely made any sound....

Besides the dumpvalve being louder and slightly more responsive, I didnt really notice anything different though.

Danny here you ask if its worth doing however in your signature it says you already have it done?
Or did you just mention the N249 because you still have it? Then we might aswell put down every single part on our car that is standard, right?? :headhurt:

To be honest ive been in two minds about it. My girlfriend has done the bypass on her car and so far it has no problems, the DV makes more noise.

I spoke to one of the guy's at storm who said he wouldnt recomend doing it. He was saying about it controlling the opening etc of the dump valve. He didnt say it WOULD cause problems but said its not something he would personally do.

I wont be doing it for the time being as I want to see if anyone gets any probs over time, I dont know anyone whos run the bypass for a great deal of time.

I dont know if there are any real benefits of doing this beside the DV noise.

Well I have only had it for a week now, but it seems that loads of people here have it, and as myki said only the people that did it incorrectly have problems....
atleast I hope I wont have any problems either...
guess time will tell

im going to do this to mine tonight ill upload a pic after ive done to make sure ive done it correct, i couldnt find instructions or a how to any where so any help would be appreciated if i go wrong

Just do as I showed in the pictures above

Just remember: on the second picture where you see the T split/joint, the vac hose on the right has to go to top of DV.
Good luck and show some pics then we can tell you if its correct

i haven't had any problems since i did it. i do recommend replacing the pipes with new ones, as the old ones do need replacing!
i now have all new pipes, and it does seem to make the d/v noiser, but it also seems smoother when its cold? might just be me though

Ok....
from your picture...And i hope you understand this as I do not have a program to add arrows etc. So take your time to read what I wrote and maybe even print it out to take to the car...It will help trust me!

so:
The furthers questionmark on the right on top of the dump valve (the silver thing...you might still have original black bosch but it will still have a small nossle with hose from it) that goes to T piece found just under the black and white small filter (looks like checker piece).

Then the questionmark on the left goes to the hose where you put the second questionmark on the right. There will also be another T piece as this again splits into 3 seperate wires. This wiring has nothing to do with the Bypass and will not change but it is better to change all original tubing.

Then the red line you drew under the oil cap goes to a small nossle under the 4 intake pipes? (i am not native english speaker so not sure what they are called...but I am talking about the 4 silver metal pipes showing at far bottom of the diagram)

Take note here...there are 2 nossles there...so follow the tube that comes from the small UFO like silver/copper object that you see on the right bottom corner of the picture....where that tube goes is NOT where the red line tube goes.

This should be enough info.....like I said read it carefully and just take your time
