There are some tuning boxes which do a reasonable job, but as has been pointed out they can be expensive. I've seen some priced at over £500, which really is ridiculous. That's the cost of 2 remaps!

As a cheap boost do a google serch for "Evry mod" and spend a couple of quid making your own tuning box. It'll be as good as the cheap tuning boxes off ebay etc. and you'll learn a bit about your car in the process. But I'd be spending a couple of hundred quid and getting a half decent remap if I was you.

Or do the "evry mod" and save the money for the damage your car will likely incur from a cheap resistor jammed into your electrics.
T/B's are ok, but remaps are better. I've had both on a previous car and they are 2 different animals.
Get a remap for the same money as a new TB and have peice of mind that you bought the best you could afford and can go back to a company for support if you have problems.

If that is not clear enough tuning boxes make your computer very inaccurate too so dont waste your time with them, you get a really lumpy idle to boot.
