Are the standard one's failing?

No, they're fine. Just needs doing!
Actually, on the car front, after I sort the Leon, there's the saxo to get through its test, a mk4 ibiza needing it's exhaust manifold doing ;) , then kiwicupra's coilovers, That's apart from a bit of building work to get planning dept off my back - and getting up at 4 in the morning before I go to bed to lick 't lake dry.........

Well, I only got an hour at it today due to work. :(

But........ I've given myself a pesistency and patience award.:D

Trackrod end nut meets nut splitter...... :cartman:

With the rod end out of the hub assembly and loads of heat applied, it was becoming apparent there was no way the track rod end was coming off the end of the rod. :censored:

I suppose it's at this stage garages start saying you need to replace the track rod.......

But, I thought I'd try something first.

Cut the trackrod end using Dremel and a large cutting disc......

This allowed me to get the nut splitter onto the section of trackrod end that was still on the rod.

This then wound of the trackrod end quite easily, leaving the threads undamaged.

I discovered the problem was a load of locktite on the rod-end threads.

LC and FR trackrods are much smaller than the cupra r and r32 track rods. Worthwhile upgrading to these for future use especially as you track the car?

Hows the electric impact gun working out, Dave?

Excellent - a real time saver. For some reason the deep impact socket set I got has every size but 18mm. There are quite a few 18mm bolts, so I've pretty much shagged an ordinary 18mm socket. I've gone easy with tightening though. All torqued by hand. :)

It snowed this morning but didn't settle. I put the gazebo up.
