B&M Short Shifter Fitted (Ebay Copy)

I've just finished fitting my short shifter and what a difference it makes. Gear changes are more solid and precise also it isn't at all knotchy, like my previous short shift on my punto.

I bought it off Ebay ages ago for £20, it is an exact copy of the B&M shifter. The only thing that it doesn't come with it is the grease and the gear knob, so i bought a Richbrook slant top gear knob for £20 also off Ebay. So in total i spent 40 notes, well worth it imo.

Looks very good mate, the knob looks like it could have came as standard! Somthing ive been toying with myself for a while! Think ive made up my made after looking at yours!

how easy was it to get the standard gearknob and gaitor apart? did u have to destroy the gearknob??

and how did u then attatch the gaitor to the new gearknob?

and does the one on that link fit?? it doesnt list ibiza, but r they the same?

The standard gear knob cannot be used on this short shifter because when you install it, it converts the standard push down reverse to a lift up reverse. Therefore a lift up gear knob is needed. The standard knob would fit but it wouldn't function (wouldn't select reverse).

The one in the ebay link i've posted is exactly the same as mine. Although the mk3 beeza is'nt listed it's the same fitment as the mk4 Golf. Check out my first pic and compare them.

It is pretty easy to do, i was taking my time to make sure everything was right, in all it took me about 3hrs. The hardest part for me was getting the exhaust heat shield off. It was easy to undo but removing it completely was a bit tricky. It would be a piece of pi*s if you were going to replace the dp and cat at the same time. I just jacked up the passenger side i didn't use any ramps, although it probably would of been easier.
