Hi all

I have a fault on the cd/radio in an altea where it turns itsself on.

i have been waiting for nearly 3 months now for a replacement. i have tried customer services no help, they checked the garage to see they have done there best to get one. The garage jennings in middlesborough seem to be doing all they can, they have 3 radios on order with seat(same fault)

Both customer services and jennings say its a shortage at seat.

I just wondered how big the problem is,

Getting really pi??ed off now even thinking of going to bbc's watchdog program its getting that bad.

Come seat pull your finger out. Love the car, but this is my first and last seat!!

The car is a 2.0 tdi, radio just the standard single cd player.

Same car slightly different fault. Single CD player keeps skiping when i go over a bump. Dealer tells me i'm also 3rd in line waiting for a replacement with another after me. Thinking about it is is also at least 3 months since this was reported :(

Hi tc,
you're not allone, be assured.

Within the german seat-forum community, there are lots and lots of complaints about SEAT'S policy of delaying necessary replacement deliveries.

My CD2/MP3 is said to be changed since beginning of Juli and there was this campaign about the "auto volume increase" option, where SEAT-Germany promised to make a "global change" for the ones suffering from that problem.

=> http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=752183&postcount=2

By today, there are few CD1/CD2 units reported to be changed on warranty over here ... some of them still seem to be having the well known bug.
Occurs to me that it's only a half-hearted way of calming down the owners while veiling the real problem of not getting the thousands of corrected/repaired units from the manufacturer (Blaupunkt).

What's even more absurd: it's told by several members, that the malfunctioning radio is removed and then sent to the manufacturer ... without getting any replacement in the meantime ... riding along having a gaping hole in the dashboard.

So, you can look at it as a global problem ...

I got mine changed alright in the Autumn when a line of dot wasn't showing on the screen. It came like it at delivery and after umming and ahrring and you people here saying get it swapped out, I did. It took about four weeks and no they didn't take the old one out and leave a hole. It was the version 1 of this radio, without MP3 so may be there are more about. I was impressed with the replacement, to me it works better than the original in sound quality.

Thanks it sounds like it.... it wasn't recalled but I got tired of the issue and had it sorted. Also when the radio got hot the screen disappeared and was difficult to read. Think there was too much tension on the front assembly of it.

uups, sorry, I guess I was wrong with the CD3-callback ... this was a replacement of the instrument panel of the large multi function display and not the radio itself.

X-cuses

I reported my radio was playing up a few weeks ago. I would come out to the car in the morning and find it playing away to itself or sometimes it would keep trying to play a CD that wasn't there. The dealer has agreed a new radio is required and has put one on order

Phone call from Dealers Yesterday (Trenton, Hull). We have just received your new CD player from Seat, do you want to come in.

Not bad only been waiting since August. Booked in for 10k service as well so don't have to make 2 trips.

Was also told that it wasn't just mine that had arrived. Sounds like the supply problems may have been solved? Hope the new tweeter has arrived too, i was so shocked i forgot to ask

Quick update. Got CD player Friday, no more skipping CD's. Fitting not totally flush with dashboard though. Whole facia is raised by a millimetre or two.

As yes they failed to get the correct tweeter so it's off back again, probably after another three months.

Going back to my dealer in a couple of weeks time to have the new audio unit looked at on my LEON 2 1.6 Stylance, original one was switching itself on when it wanted to, new one was ordered and was installed, and this was also found to be faulty as well so was took out again before i picked the car up, so another new one was ordered and installed and has just started to do the same thing, either SEAT don't really care to correct the problem audio units and update them or i am starting to wonder if there is an electrical fault causing this.
