3 button key

Hi guys a while back I had a 3 button key fob programmed to my car by a local locksmith, works fine on unlocking and locking the car but the boot button you have to press multiple times to actually do something. Is there something that needs to be program for the boot button to actually work properly? I do have VCDS if it needs programming ??

Hi, I didn't know it was possible to separate the boot from all doors?! My fob always acts on all doors at the same time (but it is a normal 2 button fob).

Did you talked to the local locksmith?

As Battoussai said, i've never heard of this being possible on the MK1 either. I have a three button key, but the boot button does nothing.

Ok well ur half way to having it working properly, ive had my 3 button fob working for around 8 yrs now, the boot unlocks at touch of button without unlocking the car, when u close boot it re arms that part of the system but you need it coding in through vcds. I can't help you there but mine was coded in through vcds and its never been a issue works 1st time every time.

Thought it was you, I shared this info last time you asked so you decided to cheap out and take it to general locksmith, here is the info again but he may have retired by now, you need someone who knows their stuff on vcds not a general shop. Don't know what it cost that was when I had it done ages ago

As I said earlier i've had a 3 button key for years and didn't realise it was possible. I just went out and messed about with mine and it seems you just need to press and hold the boot unlock for about 3 seconds, and it does it as standard! I centainly haven't changed any coding on mine and it works a treat.

I managed to find this VCDS fob coding

But on the chanel list I can't find nothing related to boot handling:

They also refer FOB parts number: 1J0 959 753 AH or 1J0 959 753 DA

That guy who did mine was ace and well know for knowing what he does, you do need a key with a certain transponder frequency chip, and then he spent a good 20 mins on vcds doing his magic, he said if you don't know what ur doing on vcds you can **** things up. Last time I looked about a yr back people where charging around 250 for a key and chip and cutting but you needed someone with vcds again, it seems expensive now, I paid 120 I think.

When I checked the other day, my 3 button key opens the boot as standard. You just have to push and hold the button rather than pressing it. I've never changed any coding on mine and it just works.

I've just looked at this on eBay. I'm amazed they can cut from a photograph. You say they give a new pin. Can I ask how you implement this/code it to the car? I've had one key for years & really need to rectify that. Thanks as always Mty

Sorry mate, should have been clearer. By pin I meant a physical pin that attaches the key blade to the key. You have to punch the old one out to release the blade, then re-insert it to lock the blade to the key.

I didn't use these special tools, easy enough with out them, but this is hhow you do it
