OBD11 Leon mk4 - ambient lighting and more

Hi all,
Bit of an introduction to myself, names Dylan, recently bought a 2021 Leon FR eHybrid and loving it so far. As I work in tech, obviously it’s normal for me to look to see what I can code and do to my car.
I’ve read a bit about ambient lighting and my car from what I can see only has background lighting with no option to change colour etc, however when I turn the lighting on nothing actually happens (I haven’t tried to do this in the dark yet).
I’ve also read there’s a few other cool things I can do too!
I was looking to buy a OBD11 to see what I can do but I was hoping some people could let me know what I can and can’t do to my car before I buy it and hopefully lead me in the direction of how I can do it.
Appreciate any support/replies.

Hi Dylan, kinda same boat, I bought a 2021 Leon FR EVO 1.0. I was pulling my hair out for the past 2 weeks but with the help of the forum and folk here, I'm a little more settled and not feeling like I've brought a total lemon of a car after having a lot of love for my Seat Ibiza 2016 FR.

I'm getting my OBD11 tomorrow to hope to tinker a bit, I'm maybe not as tech savvy as yourself but had nice pointers and help here so far.

I'm also looking to add more lights to my car as I know this is optional:

My car only has this, i'd love to be able (if easy) to retro fit the light strip like in the above screen shot and video link:

Would prefer this to say seat or something else but will look into if it a case of changing the lens to change the projection:

Yea so I get no interiors lighting at all, I was driving last night and I had no lights inside even when I selected background lighting and turning them all the way up. I don’t even get the red lights you have for some reason.
it looks like the light strip in the video you provided is in my car but can’t seem to turn it on.

I also noted the ‘hola’ puddle light and I would also love to change that, tried having a look this evening but couldn’t find what to replace it with.

Hi mate, yes i brought the OBD11, I was slightly confused with the apps but there is 2 on the play store, I believe the OBDelven for VAG give more detailed analysis and options to use long codes but its not something I'm familiar with.

At the moment I love it in regards to being able to diagnose and understand the problems with my car in hope I'm able to see if the dealer can fix the issues as do love my car, there just some underlying issues which I really hope they can fix out of good will as I don't intend to return but if they refuse to address I may have to go down that route. if fixed ill join the night rider party!! I think the past owner brought a lighting trim but not the full crazy edition.

I don't wonder if you shouldn't be able to see that screen at all if you can't control the lights you don't have unless they are there but don't work.

I think its an invaluable tool though in vetting a possible purchase if its not not with a large dealership.

Ah like you my car also has more slits for more lights but I think its a paid open/trim, a wrap around light option according to their website:

I've not looked too deeply into if DIy changing the Hola light is possible, would have preferred SEAT or FR something. Not had much luck finding any DIY changes for it yet.
