Washed the car and took it for a drive in the sun.

Yeah it’s not the cheapest of intakes but the almost factory look and the fact it’s quite tame in terms of noise suits me for a daily kid lugger.

If you are after loads of noise I wouldn’t say the r600 is the one but maybe a turbo muffler delete will help.
I’m with you, OEM fit and finish and subtle sound is where I want to be as mine’s a daily driver too, so don’t want it to sound like a boy racer wagon.

There was a complete system with MST pipe and turbo elbow on eBay at the weekend, which went for about £360, just didn’t have the cash right now!

I'm so happy, relieved beyond words! The stress I have been under during this whole toast engine situation has been so depressing it's beyond words.

After over 2 months without my car, or any car, and many many many emails and phone calls with multiple people in Seat HQ... Seat and I have finally come to an agreement that I've provisionally accepted pending written confirmation and the new zero mile engine has been ordered plus I get to keep the courtesy car (24 plate Golf 1.5tsi) they dropped off last week until my car is back on the road.

Not discussing details until after I get it in writing of course but my contribution to the repair more than acceptable all things considered.

As my engine is on backorder, it's likely a good few weeks may pass before the engine arrives. Could be quicker but after dealing with TPS for years, I know better than to expect speed with backorder parts :ROFLMAO:

Here is a pic from last summer at a customers site to remind myself of what my car looks like :ROFLMAO:

Glad you’re finally approaching a resolution matey! Although I’m still shocked it’s taken this long, and that given it’s an approved used IMO they should have just allowed you to pick another car of your choice from group stock (of equivalent price) or straight up refunded you!
At least you’ve got what sounds like a plan for a new engine and something reasonable to potter about in - the 1.5 golf isn’t too bad

I'm really impressed with the Golf to be fair. I've nit-picked some little things like the reverse camera has lag and skewed field of view, the lack of buttons on the dash (literally more buttons on the steering wheel than the rest of the dash) and the fact it keeps thinking I'm going to crash every time I drive the damn thing, it's comfy, nippy and with the 2 cylinder mode, really great of fuel.

My experience almost broke me, I won't lie. It certainly gave me pause to consider buying from a Seat main dealer again but Seat Cardiff have shown me that main dealers can care about their customers and will go to battle for you when it's the right thing to do. Whilst I will never use Seat Bristol again, I would consider buying from Seat Cardiff for sure.

My plan was to step into a Cupra Ateca when the time came to change the Leon, I'm not 100% sure that is still the plan as these last 2 months have left a bitter taste in my mouth but I'll see how I feel in a few years.

Yeah my Mrs has the mk8 Golf 1.5 etsi - she uses it for work and does a tonne of miles in it. Pretty nippy (I’d not say it’s fast, but it’s “enough”) and consistently brilliant on fuel. She does mostly motorway miles and it comfortably returns 57-58 mpg average.
I absolutely despise the touch interfaces, as it refuses to recognise my cold fat fingers (it shouldn’t take 6-7 tries to turn on heated seats!), and I’m always happy to get back into my Leon and simply push a mechanical button. Otherwise can’t really fault it

Not surprised you’d be wary of another Seat/Cupra - personally I’m leaning more towards a superb or arteon to replace my Leon when the time comes. Not sure I’d get another Seat either, as I don’t like any of the current Cupra styling, and let’s be honest it’s still just Seat with a new badge - same dealerships and parts networks

Nothing as exotic as a rear splitter!
Just a couple of random purchases.

Shopping in Tesco and they had this Simoniz car sanitiser down to £3.85, and I had a coupon for 10% off car cleaning about to expire, so for £3.46 I thought I'd try it, I'm sure these are a very temporary solution, but for that price I bought it.

I had a few Aliexpress items in a bundle deal and this battery monitor popped up at a discounted bundle item price of £9 so I added it as an impulse buy.
It seems ok and connected to my phone no problem, the battery voltage matched what my DMM showed, not something I was looking to buy, but Aliexpress got me with the bundle deal trick 😅
I'm not sure if I'll keep it connected and use it, but it seems useful at the moment as I don't have any scanning tools like OBDII
