Seat Leon FR Estate Rear Brake Pads

Hi All,

I have a 2017 1.4 FR Estate. I'm trying to replace the rear pads and discs myself. The fronts were completed yesterday evening successfully.

I'm running into issues finding the exact correct pad model for my car. There are two options on Eurocarparts which are essentially identical except for a 1mm difference in length, that's some something I'm going to be able to accurately measure on my car.

The two options are: https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/brembo-brake-pad-10144453a and https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/brembo-brake-pad-10144207a

Those PR numbers do not show up on the sticker in my boot or in the service book.

Does anybody know of any way to confirm which is the correct option for my car.

I wouldn't worry about a 1mm difference in length. Aftermarket pads vary and the worst that might happen is you need to take a file to them.

1mm is huge! If the pads are 1mm out then they need to be returned and never buy that brand again!
What happens to the steel edge you have filed in a couple of weeks!
99% of the time, if your pads are tight - its your caliper carrier which has corroded - this should be filed/cleaned/greased.

I can't find any services online which will give me this information from my VIN. Most of these places are trade only.
Your rear pad OE number is 5Q0698451AD
Your rear discs are 5Q0615601D 272x10mm

Search for this pad OE number - and you can find them for less than £50

If you are looking for cheaper quality aftermarket pads - I would pick from brake friction manufactures - not brake caliper manufactures.
The big brands who make the calipers do not make brake pads - they use brake friction manufactures for this specialism.

Thanks all. The 1mm difference would definitely have been an issue, there a different PR number for different cars.

I managed to find the PR number by calling my local Seat Dealer. 1KE was correct as suggested previously.

I've already got the parts now and am in the process of fitting, I did have to order a set of spline bits to get the carrier off.
For future reference who would be a good option as a brake friction manufacturer?

Be careful, there are several PR codes for the same pad. This depends on the parts that are installed during the factory assembly

Good to know! I have lined the old ones up with the new ones and they are an exact fit so I'm confident I have the right ones!

Personally if I can't find the OEM pad for a reasonable price I would choose a pad made by either Roulunds, TMD or Galfer, based of years of test data.

As I said previously I would not choose aftermarket pads marketed by the big named brakes suppliers - as they don't make the pads and you pay a premium for a nice box.

It's a shame there isn't a website like 'tyre reviews' but for brakes as the end user is reliant on marketing BS or word of mouth.

Eh, not much. Done this many times. If the pads are a bit loose they might clunk for a bit until they build up a bit of dirt around them. No big deal. Too tight, not so good. Not unusual to have to file aftermarket pads a little to get a decent fit. Never caused any issues. My definition of 'huge' differs from yours somewhat ;0)
