New to the World of Cupra Rs!!!

Hi Community!

For the past 12 months I have been looking for my next car. Couldn't quite decide between a Golf R and an Audi S3 and hated the thought of ever buying anything that wasn't manual. There was nothing out there that caught my attention ... until I saw a CUPRA R Limited Edition, grey for sale!! I did as much research as I could to justify the price tag and picked it up 2 days ago. Wow, what a car and I haven't stopped smiling since!

Very lucky. Wanted myself for a long time. There is one for sale at a non SEAT dealer that is about 10k overpriced otherwise I would have been tempted.

If only it was DSG… Why doesn’t the Cupra R ST have the same body kit as the hatch, as in the wide-body kit? Not fair. For the price of the Rs, I think I’d go Cupra 280 or 290 still. Or S3 if I wanted 4WD.

Yes, we gave them some stick about the lack of a body kit on the ST, and it all came down to cost savings.

Great choice! I also have a R hatchback Limited edition, same colour. Bought it in 2018 as new. Of course it should be manual .

Before I had a Golf 7 R also manual. When I tried to buy a new Golf 7 R back then there wasn’t any manual cars, then I looked at the Cupra R. Great standard on the interior, good looking body kit and manual. Very happy with my car. I have no plans to buy the new model.

Thanks for the review, I haven't seen this one before. If there was a camera in my car, I think I would be saying the same!! It is just an amazing drive, looks great and it really does feel special.

As to whether they will go up or down in price, who cares! He is right,, you cannot buy one and if you do want one then, like most limited brands,, it comes with a premium!

Totally agree, I am of a generation where it just has to be manual! I wanted a 4-door model and thought the S3 and the Golf R just didn't quite look right. The 3 doors looked so much better. Being new to CUPRA Rs, I'd never seen this limited edition before and knew nothing about the SEAT / CUPRA brand. When i saw it, it just ticked all the boxes! Sometimes you just have to reach out an grab what you want in life - enjoy it while you can!!
