Visited the dealership for some warranty work today and i ended up having to park next to a brand new Cupra R. Safe to say i fell in love. Only got my 66 plate cupra a couple of months ago and was thinking if the new version bumpers etc would fit onto my current model. I also like the copper badges. I own my car outright so i dont fancy spending a fortune for the newer model

@LewisWood92; is there a chance that if you fitted the bumpers (and bonnet) from a face lift car to a your pre-face lift model, it could put off subsequent buyers? If I was looking to buy a used car and saw it had the ‘wrong’ bumpers fitted, I’d wonder if it’d been involved in an accident. Bear in mind that doing this is a modification for insurance purposes, so you’d need to tell your insurer and there’s a chance they might charge you an increased premium. Also, if fitting the face lift bumper requires any modification to existing electrical wiring (e.g. parking sensors, fog lights etc. - may not be an issue but thought it was worth mentioning) there could be warranty implications.

If you wanted to just change your front and rear Seat logo to copper coloured, you could consider vinyl bade overlays like those at the link below;

Someone over on golfgtiforum.co.uk was thinking of fitting a GTI front bumper to their Golf R, and aside from the cost of buying the bumpers and getting them repainted, it raised the following issues;
  • GTI has fog lights, R doesn’t, so wiring issues to consider.
  • Different location of the front radar sensor.
  • GTI bumper would impede airflow to the R’s additional cooling to the oil cooler and DSG transmission cooler - located behind where the fog lights are positioned in the GTI bumper.
  • Insurance implications.
  • Possible warranty implications.
They decided to leave things as they were.
