What Tyres is Everyone Using Then?

Evening guys,

Thinking of some new tyres on my Seat Leon estate, seems to have been packed off with some black arrow sh*t ones on the fronts.
It’s got Bridgestone Turanza T005s on the rear. Does anyone know what the factory fit make make/model tyre is? The lip to protect the rim seems good on those at least.
Anything else to recommend?

I'm going to stick with the Bridgestones - costly but then everything about this car costs a fortune! I found switching to the extra load tyres saves a few quid, less chance of pothole damage because of the stiffer sidewall, so that's what's going on. This month had the car tax £600, next month insurance £300 so tyres might have to wait until October.

Bridgestone Potenza Sport for me, tyre provides to much grip for the car and the rim protection is the best than the rest, don't overlook Goodyear Assym. 6. & Kumho PS71 if on a budget.

I'd also have no hesitation in buying the T005..

I’m pretty set on either the Michelin pilot sport 4 (which I had put on the previous car) or the Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 6. But seem to offer some rim protection too.

Annoying it looks like the PilotSport5 don’t have as much rim protection on this generation!

Must admit I haven’t looked into the suggested Potenza Sports yet. I’m open minded though, doesn’t have to be an ultra performance tyre. So if there’s a performance tyre still with good rim protection I’m interested too. I was looking at the Primacy4+ but again, seems like only small rim protection.

Conti sport contact 7 235/40/18xl on my cupra ST , unreal these tyres are , i was on mich pilot sport 4S but these contis are way better dry or wet

Generally only sport tyres have rim protection, and premium manufactures offer more, the Pilot Sport5 have weaker walls than the 4 and more tread block movement as some are finding out, but once worn a little they do improve so I'm told..

I’ve ordered the pilot sport 4 for a few weeks time. It’s probably weird to some to opt for the older tyre model just for the extra protection like I have, but these rims need all the help they can get in my mind. And the tyre itself isn’t exactly a bad choice.

Wow - my exact words.

Did mine this month with Bridgestone XL's - ride feels better to me, but maybe thats just new rubber at the correct pressure. Car is expensive to run, but so much fun to drive.
