Could be the kiddy anti bite so they don't swallow them and burn their stomach. Some of the batteries are also coated with this so that has to be rubbed off. Might be on that sticky label. It was been recorded as well invisible films which prevent contact.

Nowadays they don't tend to run the risk of loosing the settings if you are switching batteries slowly. That was the old worry.

They are registered with the mothership at Vag so no buying off ebay, you need them to be officially registered by a dealer.

Suspect it's just stopped working like broke. The illuminated red light on the fod means battery OK. When they go flat that light never comes on. Observed that one. You may or may not get the dash low battery warning but the fod won't light when you press a button.

The one where people don't take off the protective film / paper changing the battery you wouldn't get the illuminated light trying it out before you go to the car. You can give the battery a rub with a micro fibre cloth if it one that's got bitter bite coating as some are said to have which need a wipe.

Could be a duff battery why it's not lighting up now but given it was lighting up before but not opening the car, the first instance feels like a failed remote (try the other). If the second one doesn't work then it's going to be a failure in the car of Kessy, central locking etc. A dealer thing.

I wedge the CR2032 in which is an old Skoda trick in the Areca one that takes the CR2025s. I probably said that at the top. It can damage the battery sometimes so you don't get the increased longevity by the trick. Probably carefully closing it helps poking it down everytime you try to close the case and it pops up. The case holds the battery tight rather than any clips inside it. It can get pinched if it pops up and that's when you find you change them sooner. You see the battery with a dent in it. Well that's the CR2032 upgrade. The Arona already takes the CR2032... not sure of where we are on the other models.
