Fitting Alhambra MIB STD2 PQ (Discover Media PQ)

hi all,
I currently have an RNS510 in my Mk2 facelift Leon (2012).

Am I right in thinking that the MIB STD2 PQ (aka Discover Media PQ) units that came in later gen mk2 Alhambras are a direct replacement to the old RNS platform?

If so, does anyone know if these units work in a mk2 facelift Leon? Are they the correct shape for the trim, and do they use the built in mic, aux and USB in the car? Specifically, does CarPlay work over the original USB port?

I know people use the RCD330s but i’m less keen on these as they don’t use any of the original fittings (without mods)

Thanks in advance

Thanks @Syphon

From reading around online it does sound like the MIB PQ unit will work in place of an RNS unit provided I get one with the component protection removed, but I'm not sure on the following:
- Whether I would need a can gateway upgrade (as I have a facelift Leon mk2, I already have the one that supports RNS without battery drain - but I'm not sure if different again for MIB).
- Whether I could use the existing centre console USB and Aux port in the Leon (and if so, whether it is plug & play or whether I would need to do some hackery to fit a new port to the existing fascia or something else that's a non-reversible change)

So if anyone has any ideas on that it'd be very much appreciated

i were looking to do this on my MK2 facelift which has RNS315. the MIB will fit however for it to get working you need a wiring adaptor loom. (it has a different quad lock connector 52 pin rather than 40 pin) these were available on Ali express when i last checked a while ago.

i think the use of existing centre console USB and AUX port would be lost unless the wiring adaptor loom accommodates this.

unlike the RNS310/315/510, there is no four digit radio code. instead, the headunit needs to be tied into cars VIN number and instrument cluster.

Canbus gateway will require changing as the MIB has address 5F function which i'm led to believe cannot be coded on the existing gateaway.

I'm sure this would get costly and at this rate to buy an after market branded stereo instead

also wouldnt the MIB be an eyecandy for theives?

thanks for the write up.
I had essentially reached the same conclusion that sadly it is too much money and time to put into a 12 year old car. I have bluetooth with track display and steering wheel controls which is the main thing for me, and I can just mount my phone on the dash for navigation.
Thanks for your comments anyway as info on this is fairly limited online!

No worries at all.

i have the same aswell so not bothering with changing although at one point i did want to change to Kenwood DNX518DABS or the latest equivalent as it made for VW/SEAT/Skoda's in terms of the front fascia but again would probably lose the track display on screen.

Does anyone know if the rear parking sensor radar display still functions with the RCD330 in the mk2?

Facelift or No Facelift?

I installed the RCD 880 Pro from a Chinese supplier in the Octavia 2 facelift and everything works as it should.
