Hi all, 2012 Leon (mk2 facelift, 1.2 TSI S copa) owner here looking for a bit of advice.

I was driving my car today and refuelled, when I got back to the car and started it up, it started fine but I got an error on the MFD screen that said something like “Button for Driver Assistance Faulty” and the stereo didn’t come on. I turned the key back and started the car again and the same message popped up.

I drove the car up the road and pulled into an industrial estate to have a look. I realised at this point that if I put the hazards or indicator on, it didn’t show up on the instrument cluster (even though the lights themselves were working outside).

I switched the car off, took the key out, waited a couple of mins then started it again. The error didn’t come back this time and everything seemed to be working fine again.

A while after getting home I tried a cold start and no issues, all working fine.

I scanned with OBDEleven and it found 30 ish faults (usually 0), these were a range of:
- Lost communication with control module (loads of these including HVAC, Steering Column, Body, Door)
- Function limitation due to missing message
- Implausible Signal
- No signal/communication (repeated for a whole host of sensors)

I’ve cleared these so am hoping they don’t come back, have attached some example screenshots.

None of these really give any clue to cause however, they effectively all just tell me that it had issues communicating with the rest of the car.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this might have been? And whether it is just a ‘glitch’ or a sign that some module is failing? The car is in with SEAT for service in a couple of days so i’m wondering whether to ask them for an opinion (assuming it doesn’t happen again before then).

Definitely one of the modues went offline, from that sample of fault codes and the radio not working etc, almost certainly the Central Electrics module.
Likely just a glitch, but could be a loose connection or corrosion causing an intermittent break in communition.

thanks! appreciate the response. driven it a couple more times since and no signs of any probs so crossing my fingers it was just a glitch.

was a bit of a scare when it looked like the basics like hazards weren’t working!! (though they actually were on the outside)

No worries mate. Fingers crossed for you that it's all ok.

Most of the features like instrument cluster lights, speedo, electric mirrors etc etc, are no longer directly connected to the switches or the sensors these days, always a computer in between them.
