Retrofitting wiring harnesses - where to buy automotive cables?

Hi. I didn't know where to place a discussion like this so I put it into a general one. I'm wondering if you have some experience where to buy cables for wiring harnesses with OEM specifications. I found some can bus twisted pairs on Aliexpress with fair enough quality but for the single cables I can't really find a good source. Do you have some suggestions where to find out? Thank you!

I am from Poland and I can without any doubts recommend https://wtyczkolandia.pl/ site. They offer automotive cables and also VAG connectors with very good quality and price. Unfortunately I don't know whether they send packages abroad and can communicate in other language than polish.

Just to let you know - you are looking for FLRY-B cables (Automotive low voltage cable (FL) with reduced thickness of insulation (R) made of PVC (Y), with irregularly stranded conductor (B)). Speaking about the connectors. I found some listing of commonly used connectors already but I still didn't find part number of the one used in the 5WA973708 connectors (Used in for the reverse camera). Im attaching some picture how it does look.

Any idea where I can get them?

It looks like MQS or MCON connector (depending on which side there is that "lip" on the top)

I think that those are different one. Its like half of those connectors (Width of that pin is 1 mm... Where MQS/MCON has 2mm). And it does not have a "lip on the side" but kind of "bridge" from side to side on the upper side of the pin hole. Here is a picture where it is more obvious..

It's nanoMQS. The crimping tool is expensive, I believe we paid around £1100 for ours a couple of years ago. There may be third party tools now but at the time the only option was from TE themselves

You may be lucky with a generic open barrel crimp tool, or it may just crush the crimp and cut the wire. I use Molex connectors in my job and we have 4 different Molex crimp tools: but it is essential for us to be sure that each crimp is perfect.

Absolutely nothing wrong with using a generic crimp tool. If it gives good results there's no reason to spend 500 Euros when you only need to spend 20. And it will almost certainly give a better result than using pliers!

I've not tried any third party tools for nanoMQS so I can't comment on that

Looks.great for MQS, I don't think you'd get away with it for NanoMQS though

I see that there is a SN-2549R version of that AliExpress crimp tool that "should" work with wires as small as 0.08mm^2. Without any other options than pretty expensive tool I would say that it is worth a try!
