Anyone got any pointers on where to look for a leak thats leaving my 2017 5F 5 door hatch back (no sunroof) with a wet spare wheel well after a short drive in the wet?

Water leak in the boot

I had this, no water on any of the pillars, carpets etc, but was collecting in the spare wheel well. It was the cabin vents that are just behind the rear bumper. One way to see if it’s that is to remove the access panel in the boot (as if to access the rear lights) and have a feel about. I had a puddle of water just below the near side rear light. The pic is after mopping up and having a short run in the rain.

Hi Ian, it won’t be the fuel drain pipe as that doesn’t go into the car (mine blocked took the whole thing out to clear). To access the vents, remove the centre trim, undo two bolts for the trim holding the parcel shelf up (one on each side) then pull these out a bit. You should then have enough room to move the carpet out of the way to access the rear lights and vents
@Jay5959 I've got similar issue and also noticed the puddle near those vents. Did you solve this somehow? I wonder whether those vents should be replaced or somehow can be sealed
I sent it back to pentagon seat to sort out. I think they took the rear bumper off and replaced the vents. I’m not sure if they can be sealed or not mate.
In my case, the leak was (probably) under the left tail light in the trunk lid. I temporarily sealed the connection with silicone, but I want to secure it with something more appropriate. The lid was replaced by previous owner so I can only assume that someone done shitty job.
Never heard of a leak like that before. I sealed my boot vent by pushing the vent out of the body, with a bit of string tied to it in case it fell down the gap, then twisting it and pulling the vent out back through the gap without taking the bumper off. Cleaned the vent up and then put loads of silicone around the seal and carefully maneuvered it back through the gap and pulled it back into place till the tabs clicked. Then sealed all around the inside with the silicone that came back through and added a bit more just to make sure it was sealed. So far no leaks but if it does it again I will look at the tailgate light.

I've just pulled my seals out using the way you mentioned. Legend. Turns out they're the culprit for me too.
Now before I seal these vents up with silicone like you did, I just wondered if you've had any water ingress since? Cheers pal

I'll double check mine but I'm positive mines coming through the dread bumper vents...
I'll be honest, the string was genius! I'm still dry too, fingers crossed for the both of us mate!No I haven't. Glad you liked my my method.
I had another leak in mine. This time water was dripping through the rubber grommet that the back light clips into. The one at the pointed end of the back light where it clips into the body was dripping. Took the light off then took the grommet out and put sealant on the back of it and clipped it back in. Then put more sealant round the outside of it and put the light back in. Hope this helps someone.
