Purple.....H56 / H58

I want to put this to bed once and for all, can those of you that have access to the purple ambient lighting option confirm what hardware version you are running, my guess is that all of you will be H58. I ask as i have tried factory resets, new users etc and still no purple, i therefore believe it to be hardware related. Many thanks

Actually a sidequest in here:
Can someone with H58 and the purple colour available do a module backup via OBDeleven and share the settings?
Then we will see if there is anything possible to do via coding to get it on H56 (I doubt, but one can always hope...)

And yeah, H56 on 1940 here and no Purple in sight.

It’s still not a choice in my light settings, so I suspect if I change it I won’t get it back…..(so I am not going to try )

I added a new user the other week and still didnt get purple, i selected it in the car and went to user and simply selected it,, purple didnt appear.......oh well

Any chance you have ODB11 and could pull a backup of module 09?

Or just lookup the Hmi_ambient_colors_bitmask value in adaptions? It could put an end to this part of the mystery.

Would we be able to change if the settings are posted? Aren't coding and adaptions locked down on the Formentor?

Not that locked down, most of the less critical modules aren't locked per say, beyond popping the bonnet latch and using a simple login code (which OBD11 helpfully provides itself) i.e. power steering module, climate control, soundaktor, are all very easy to code.

There's 3 types of coding; basic settings (more like diagnostic functions) adaptions (actual settings worth changing) long coding (module properties which can enable new features - if hardware is installed) are all available in almost every module if you have the premium ODB11 subscription.

More critical modules are locked by SFD - but again, still unlockable through OBD11 with MFA and user details setup. Being more sensitive modules I believe these are the modules which are more proactivity tracked by the VW HQ database, the central electrics module is one such locked by SFD.

But even critical modules like the ECU and TCU are still assessable by OBD11, you just won't be doing any remapping! I would say these are truly locked modules except for specialist tuners, depending on vehicle age. But you can still use ODB11 to lookup all the properties of these modules, like amount of times the firmware has been flashed. You wouldn't bother trying any adaptions on these even though you could. I believe a popular TCU adaption to change between less noise or more traction is already covered in the Formentor's 4Speed settings; comfort and sport.

That is good to know! I had the premium subscription couple of years ago, but didnt renew as I was in a BMW last year.

But might be worth investing in again sometime, really want to deactivate the start stop when it becomes possible to do!

Just to update; I went through the chore of adding a new drivers profile (as suggested here) and I do now have purple lighting!

I don't think I'm going to be able to find any true solution from this discovery as I know the colour selection menu hasn't changed.

As stated before, the purple is only lit on the individual option on a clean profile (That's individual lighting mode, not individual driving mode) If you put the lighting mode into the "change with driving mode" option, the individual mode is actually light blue. If I make any custom selection I'm obviously going to lose purple forever, but I digress.

Purple seems to be the default hardcoded colour scheme - or the colour in absence of any choice. Getting purple displayed on the colour selector would still be the true solution we need.

No Purple. Got those horrible extra orange, yellows and whites where the nice colours should be. It looks so silly on the infotainment unit. They even taunt us by making the "Individual" button have a purple bar on it, but yet no purple!

Would love to see if there's a solution to this, because I've tried both the factory reset and new profile trick, as well as logging into my old profile before the factory reset and it just defaults to the left of the two oranges. It's bothering me more than it should, anyone want to meet up and swap headunits temporarily to see if that's a fix? haha

h56 but only the "light" purple of the new driver profile

One guy tell me on instagram that is possible to coding the purple on H56 (@activacionvag) but you need to go to Madrid to do this

I believe the default colour value of 26 is purple in fact - so I wouldn't want to change it. In absence of a profile selection (i.e. a brand new profile is created) I do have purple lighting. If the default lighting on the V2 eHybrid is value 16 and therefore isn't purple... well, that does it!

Unfortunately it's going to remain a mystery, at least to OBD11 users, purple cannot be gained with any adaptation. Apart from changing the default value, (which shouldn't be needed on a VZ2 at least) the solution is never to change colours after creating your profile.

We need something more akin to a profile editor - and those are synced to the cloud platform of VAG servers.

If the Connect App ever allowed us to design our lighting selection in the app, we could potentially submit custom colors to the car to sync with, unironically this OTA approach would be a far easier way to gain purple than any localized programming.
