2018 Ibiza FR wireless charger retrofit

Has anyone retrofitted the wireless charger pad/connectivity box to their Ibiza to replace the plain box under the USB ports & audio jack? I’ve just acquired a new centre console with the wireless charger with the intention of fitting it so I don’t have to bother with cables (wireless CarPlay adapter plugged in permanently), but I suspect there might be a connector missing once I’ve removed the trim

I’ve found this guide on a Spanish forum for an older Leon but it’s missing some of the details

I own a VW and there’s been discussions on various VW forums over the last few years on the subject of wireless charging. Quite a few forum members with OEM factory fit wireless charging have commented on their phones getting extremely hot while on the charging pad - so hot in fact that they’ve shut down - presumably to protect the phone from becoming damaged. Also the wireless charging rate seems to be quite poor. Things may have improved with the latest generation of in-car wireless charging though.

I personally don’t find connecting my phone to a cable to be too much of a hardship as it only takes a few seconds to plug the cable into the phone. I‘ve got a short cable, so no issues with a long untidy cable trailing around the centre console either 🙂.

On long trips I use the cable to keep my cell phone charged, but within the city it is more practical to use wireless as I don't have to constantly plug and unplug the cable every time I get out of the car in these situations I bought this device and it works 100% in my Polo.

Yes you'll need to add the necessary wiring and code the infotainment unit.
