Rusty rear brake discs

Hi, I recently took delivery of VZ2 E-Hybrid and the back discs are showing signs of the pads not making contact correctly 1k miles currently)

I'm aware this has been mentioned in a thread previously but I'm not sure what people's solutions were.

Has anybody experienced this on their car and if so what was the fix?

I've heard people say about having to brake harder due to it being a hybrid but I think if the pads are touching atall (which they are) then they should be touching across the full surface, parallel to the discs.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts/experiences!

I presume it’s cuz the car regenerates energy rather than use the brakes?

I know what you're saying but the brakes are working at the rear but just not across the whole disc, that's the issue. If the brakes weren't working much due to the regen braking, the discs would be completely rusty.

It's the uneven pad to disc contact that's my concern.

I have the Formentor hybrid and have regen set to max. My mileage is fairly low, I rarely brake hard and the rear discs are clean across the surface. I think you are right to have a concern. I'll try and put some pics up tomorrow for comparison.

Thanks that would be helpful. I have regen set to low to try and help but it's just not making a difference 😞

They are perfect and as you/I'd expect them to be! Out of interest, how many miles has your car done (approx) and have your brakes always looked spot on as per the photos?

Appreciate you taking the time to send these,👍
It's a 21 plate, 12.5k miles approx.
This morning they looked rusty but I washed it yesterday. Today I did 40 mile round trip so used Hybrid mode.

No problem with the photos. Hope you get yours sorted. 👍

That's good to know, thank you 🙂 I had a 21 plate and it was spot on.
I expect surface rust when damp, it's just the fact the pads aren't making even contact. Thanks I'll update on Saturday once I have mine back......

Needs pads removed and sliders cleaned, and ensuring piston pins in the right position to keep pads vertical and so even contact on the discs.

Funny thing is that the front pad carriers are greased from factory but the rears are bone dry. They haven't worked properly from day one so cleaning shouldn't be required, I keep the car spotless and it only have 1500 miles on.

This problem is normal on eHybrid and especially with 310 mm discs.
The rear breaks are not used enough and it is not possible to use them more without days downhill driving in neutral.

I believe that the uneven wear is caused by 2 springs mounted between the pads on both sides. The springs are mounted to make sure that the pads not get stocked to disc.
I have found the springs to be so hard that the brake pads only get pressed against discs closest to center. I removed springs but my discs was already to damaged for it to help.
