1.8t Oil Leak with Picture AUQ

Hi, I've been under my 1.8t having a poke about this morning. Looking for obvious MOT failures. Whilst everything seems OK, I've found a leak or leaks. Seems worst at the bottom of the intercooler pipe. Also some drips from the sump and gearbox. The sump gasket feels like polystyrene too. I've added pictures to show what I mean. Greatful for any advice. Davie

Hard to say from a pic, but if it's dripping from above then possibly the feed or return to the turbo. Is it years worth of weeping, or has this suddenly happened? Either way, the best thing is probably to clean with brake cleaner or degreaser, then monitor to see where it's coming from.

Thanks for the reply. The mechanic never mentioned it when it was serviced so, I suspect its fairly new. I shall have it looked at by a mechanic.

No worries. If it's new then that's about the only external place that a large amount of oil flows through.

Will it need a new turbo or can I just change the feeds? I'm not mechanical minded at all.

If it's just the feeds then you can just change the pipes, but it could be something less serious and the mechanic never mentioned the oil. Keep a close eye on your oil level until you get it checked, and if the oil pressure light comes on at any point then turn the engine off immediately. Even 20 secs without oil is enough to write the engine off.

I'll bare that in mind. Thank you for your advice
